Improving RPCA-Based Clutter Suppression in GPR Detection of Antipersonnel Mines

Detecting shallow buried antipersonnel mines (APMs) with a ground-penetrating radar (GPR) is a challenging task because of clutter contamination, which often obscures the APM response. In this letter, a novel method combining migration imaging with the low-rank and sparse representation method to suppress clutter and extract target image is presented. The proposed method first focuses and strengthens the target response with migration imaging. Then, since the focused target response and clutter, respectively, constitute the sparse component and the low-rank component of the recorded data, the recently proposed robust principal component analysis (RPCA) can be applied to the recorded data to separate the target response (sparse component) from the clutter (low-rank component). Numerical simulation and experiments with real GPR systems are conducted. Results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method in improving signal-to-clutter ratio and retrieving geometrical information of the target, which permits a better APM identification in heavy clutter environment.

Immune infiltration is associated with pan‐cancer prognostic biomarker RING finger protein 187

Abstract Cancer is associated with the highest mortality rate globally. While life‐saving screening and treatments exist, better awareness is needed. RNF187, an E3 ligase regulating biological processes, belongs to the RING domain‐containing E3 ligase family. RNF187 may serve as an oncogene due to abnormal expression in tumors. However, its association with immune infiltration and prognosis across various cancers remains unclear. We searched several databases including TCGA, GTE x, CCLE, TIMER, and GSEA. R software was used to evaluate RNF187 differential expression, survival, pathology stage, DNA methylation, tumor mutational burden (TMB), microsatellite instability (MSI), gene co‐expression analysis, mismatch repairs (MMRs), tumor microenvironment (TME), and immune cell infiltration. Clinicopathological data were collected, and immunohistochemistry was used to verify RNF187 expression in tumor tissues. RNF187 expression was up‐regulated in various cancers compared to that in normal tissues and associated with poor patient outcomes. Dysregulation of RNF187 expression in multiple cancer types was strongly correlated with DNA methylation, MMR, MSI, and TMB. RNF187 could interact with different immune cells in cancers. Biomarkers associated with RNF187 may be helpful for prognosis and immunology in treating pan‐cancer patients.

Joint Design of Transmit Waveform and Mismatch Filter in the Presence of Interrupted Sampling Repeater Jamming

In this letter, a method is proposed to suppress the interrupted sampling repeater jamming (ISRJ) by jointly designing the radar waveform and mismatch filter. The joint design problem under multiple constraints is formulated with the optimization criterion of minimizing the integrated sidelobe levels (ISLs) of waveform mismatch filter output and integrated levels (ILs) of ISRJ signal mismatch filter output. An iterative algorithm is proposed to optimize the waveform and mismatch filter using Lagrange multiplier method and alternating direction multiplier method (ADMM), respectively. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves good pulse compression performance while suppressing the ISRJ.

MH/Ni Battery Discharge Performance Test Research of Hybrid Electric Vehicle

According to the research and development requirement, structure feature and operating principal of MH/Ni battery for hybrid electric vehicle,experiment scheme of 144 V/6.5 Ah MH/Ni battery pack is designed,processing methods of discharging efficiency and inner resistance are put forward,and experiment data is processed with Matlab.Combined with the influences among correlative parameters such as discharging current,state of charge(SOC),inner resistance and environment temperature,terminal voltage characteristic,inner resistance characteristic and discharging characteristic under the normal temperature,high temperature and low temperature are analyzed.The results show that MH/Ni battery has good discharging characteristic under normal temperature and high temperature,but is not fit for working under-30 ℃.

Improvement of surface penetrating radar imaging by suppressing clutter using nonlinear gain control

Surface penetrating imaging technology reconstructs target images that conform to visual perception by interpreting radar data, which reflects the target's geometry and electromagnetic scattering characteristics directly. For surface penetration imaging, various sources of clutter cause failure of image interpretation, therefore clutter suppression is the key to obtain target information accurately. Though clutter suppression approaches aiming at the strong clutter make the target image prominent enough for imaging process, the weak clutter with energy close to the target affects the imaging quality. In this paper, a nonlinear gain control method is proposed for the suppression of weak clutter and improving the contrast of the imaging by non-linearly weakening the data below the threshold and enhancing the data above the threshold. Experiments show that the proposed method can effectively improve the imaging quality.

On method of composing low frequency signals based on array structures

Generating low-frequency electromagnetic waves based on high-frequency antenna and illuminating targets with multi-band signals can be an effect way that can not only reduce the physical dimension of a low frequency antenna, but also improve the performance of radar detection. Combining the electromagnetic wave doppler effect principle and the array antenna architecture, a method of generating a low-frequency signal around the illuminated target is proposed based on the controlling of array antenna parameters, including array radiation element signal timing, phase and element spacing. The principles of array parameter design are described. Composite signals are simulated respectively under two typical geometric relationships between targets and array antenna, target located along the array direction and in the direction of 45° scanning angle. The peak sidelobe ratio (PSLR) and integral sidelobe ratio (ISLR) are used to evaluate the quality of the composite signals. Aiming at practical applications, the effects of array element spacing error, phase error and target location error on the composite signal are simulated and analyzed. Under the condition of sparse uniform array, the influence of the radiation element spacing on the composite signal is analyzed. The simulation results show that the harmonic components of the composite signal increase with the radiating element spacing error and phase error growing.

SAR Waveform and Mismatched Filter Design for Countering Interrupted-Sampling Repeater Jamming

The interrupted-sampling repeater jamming (ISRJ) is coherent and has the characteristic of suppression and deception to degrade the synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image quality. The anti-ISRJ methods are studied in this work in order to suppress the ISRJ based on the waveform and filter design for SAR. First, the relationship between the ISRJ and waveform is obtained by analyzing the principle of the ISRJ using the ambiguity function. The ISRJ produces multiple false targets based on the high Doppler tolerance of waveform and the characteristic of the matched filter. Next, a method is proposed to counter the ISRJ by transmitting a phase-coded (PC) waveform with low Doppler tolerance and designing the corresponding mismatched filter. The joint design method is then developed to improve the anti-ISRJ and imaging performance. In the proposed methods, the majorization minimization framework is introduced to solve the nonconvex waveform and filter design problem. Finally, several simulations are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods. Simulation results show that the joint design method shows better anti-ISRJ and imaging performance in comparison with the separate design method, but it is more sensitive to the ISRJ sampling duty ratio and period.

The construction of a lymphoma cell-based, DC-targeted vaccine, and its application in lymphoma prevention and cure

In recent years, Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) has been one of the most fast-growing malignant tumor diseases. NHL poses severe damages to physical health and a heavy burden to patients. Traditional therapies (chemotherapy or radiotherapy) bring some benefit to patients, but have severe adverse effects and do not prevent relapse. The relevance of emerging immunotherapy options (immune-checkpoint blockers or adoptive cellular methods) for NHL remains uncertain, and more intensive evaluations are needed. In this work, inspired by the idea of vaccination to promote an immune response to destroy tumors, we used a biomaterial-based strategy to improve a tumor cell-based vaccine and constructed a novel vaccine named Man-EG7/CH@CpG with antitumor properties. In this vaccine, natural tumor cells are used as a vector to load CpG-ODN, and following lethal irradiation, the formulations were decorated with mannose. The study of the characterization of the double-improved vaccine evidenced the enhanced ability of DCs targeting and improved immunocompetence, which displayed an antitumor function. In the lymphoma prevention model, the Man-EG7/CH@CpG vaccine restrained tumor formation with high efficiency. Furthermore, unlike the non-improved vaccine, the double-improved vaccine elicited an enhanced antitumor effect in the lymphoma treatment model. Next, to improve the moderate therapeutic effect of the mono-treatment method, we incorporated a chemotherapeutic drug (doxorubicin, DOX) into the process of vaccination and devised a combination regimen. Fortunately, a tumor inhibition rate of ~85% was achieved via the combination therapy, which could not be achieved by mono-chemotherapy or mono-immunotherapy. In summary, the strategy presented here may provide a novel direction in the establishment of a tumor vaccine and is the basis for a prioritization scheme of immuno-chemotherapy in enhancing the therapeutic effect on NHL.

Two methods for the selection of the master and slave degrees of freedom in dynamic condensation technique for finite element models are proposed in this paper.For the finite element mathematical model of single-layer cantilever plate.The methods of high-accuracy and accelerated dynamic condensation are separately used in the process of reduction of the model,and these two methods for the selection of the master and slave degrees of freedom are compared and analyzed.The characteristics and application scopes of these selection methods are concluded,providing the reference for the practical application of dynamic condensation techniques.

Improved SAR Interrupted-Sampling Repeater Jamming Countermeasure Based on Waveform Agility and Mismatched Filter Design

The interrupted-sampling repeater jamming (ISRJ) countermeasure is researched based on waveform agility and mismatched filter design in this work. By analyzing the effects of transmitted waveform on ISRJ imaging characteristic, the principle of the anti-ISRJ method is proposed. The ISRJ range processing gain and energy can be suppressed by designing the waveform and mismatched filter. Meanwhile, the ISRJ azimuth processing gain can be further restrained by utilizing the waveform agility. The anti-ISRJ problem is formulated and is then divided into several subproblems. The analytical solutions of waveform and mismatched filter are derived based on majorization minimization (MM), and a fast algorithm is proposed by applying a squared iterative method (SQUAREM). . Moreover, to improve the anti-ISRJ performance, the peak-to-average power ratio (PAR) constraint is introduced. Specifically, the waveform design subproblem under PAR constraint is solved, and thus, the PAR waveform can also be designed by the proposed algorithm. The simulation results verify that the proposed joint design algorithm shows significantly faster running speed than the conventional algorithms. The anti-ISRJ performance is superior to the existing methods, and the best anti-ISRJ performance can be obtained by applying the PAR waveform agility and mismatched filter design method.
