The immersion and invariance adaptive control for a class of linear motor systems with its application

Because it's high speed and high precision features, linear motor has been widely used in modern machinery manufacturing industry. By introducing immersion and invariance(I&I) manifold method into adaptation law design, a novel adaptive control algorithm for linear motor system with known and unknown control gain has been proposed and then is applied to linear motor gantry system in this paper. Different from the way of traditional adaptive control, the I&I adaptive control is realized by adding appropriate tuning function on parameter estimation such that the estimation error between the unknown parameters and their estimates converge to zero as time goes to infinity. This method avoids the complexity of construction of Lyapunov function, and the overall system is considered as a cascade of convergent estimator and disturbed system. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, the experimental results of the method are given in the last section.

A separating algorithm for particle image

In the particle images, objects tend to touch, overlap with each other to form clusters. How to separate these clusters into single objects is a vital problem for the counting, feature extraction and analysis in the following process. Separating them by boundary tracking do not need an acute angle and/or the strong density contrast at the points where the objects touched, so it can get a better separating result. But sometimes when the principal axis direction of the cluster is neither horizontal nor vertical, it does not work. For this, a new separating algorithm is presented in the paper. At first, the algorithm calculates the principal axis direction of the cluster, if it is nearly horizontal or vertical then goes on, otherwise it rotates the cluster to make its principal axis direction be horizontal. And then the algorithm performs separating by boundary tracking. Experiments show that the algorithm has achieved a well separating result.

A Robust Cooperative Control Protocol Based on Global Sliding Mode Manifold for Heterogeneous Nonlinear Multi-Agent Systems Under the Switching Topology

This study addresses the completely distributed consensus control problem for the heterogeneous nonlinear multi-agent system (MAS) with disturbances under switching topology. First, a global sliding mode manifold (GSMM) is designed for the overall MAS dynamic, which maintains stability without oscillations during topology switching after achieving the sliding mode. Subsequently, a consensus sliding mode control protocol (SMCP) is proposed, adopting the common sliding mode control (SMC) format and ensuring the finite-time reachability of the GSMM under topology switching. Finally, the proposed GSMM and SMCP are applied to the formation control of multiple-wheeled mobile robots (WMRs), and simulation results confirm their feasibility and effectiveness. The proposed SMCP design demonstrates key advantages, including a simple control structure, complete robustness to matched disturbance, and reduced-order dynamics under the sliding mode.

Robust I&I Adaptive DSC with Disturbance Observer for Maglev System with Output Constraint

This paper proposes a robust immersion and invariance (I&I) adaptive dynamic surface controller (DSC) with disturbance observer (DO) for the tracking control of uncertain output-constrained maglev system subjected to mismatched disturbance. The uncertain maglev system with output constraint is firstly transformed into an equivalent unconstrained one via a constructive nonlinear mapping. Dynamic surface control (DSC) combined with I&I adaption law and extended disturbance observer is designed systematically for the transformed system. The proposed control law overcomes the problem of "explosion of complexity" due to the DSC baseline controller. The robust I&I adaptation law in the control law is developed to recover the unknown parameter of the system, which shapes the dynamics of parameter estimation error and renders the estimation error exponentially converging to a bounded residual set. And the extended disturbance observer is used to handle the time-varying mismatched disturbances in the maglev system. The stability analysis of the overall system shows that all signals of the closed-loop system are bounded and output constraint of the system is not violated as well. The numerical simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed controller at last.

A skeleton extracting algorithm for dorsal hand vein pattern

Extracting vein skeleton with little distortion from the vein image is very important for improving the identification rate. In the paper, an algorithm for segmenting the dorsal hand vein image and extracting the vein skeleton is presented. Firstly, after gray and size normalizing, Gaussian lowpass filter and median filter are used to eliminate the speck noise and the horizontal strip scanning noise respectively. Then, an improved NiBlack algorithm segments the vein pattern and an area thresholding algorithm removes the noise blocks from the vein pattern. Subsequently, opening, closing and median filter are used to smooth the vein boundary. After that, the vein pattern is thinned by Kejun Wang's improved conditional thinning. Lastly, a pruning algorithm is presented to trim the spurs and the vein pattern is skeletonized. Experiment shows the algorithm acquires more real skeleton.

Robust control for missile with lateral jet and aerodynamic surfaces

In this paper, a robust blending control algorithm of tail fin and reaction jet of autopilot is proposed for the pitch control of a missile. The missile dynamic is a nonlinear system with uncertainties, which is existed in both aerodynamic force and moment generation terms in the equations of motion. The bound of the uncertainties are known, which is used to attenuate uncertainties by robust part in the control law, which guarantees the whole missile system with satisfying control performance both in transient state and steady state. The dual control allocator is designed to manipulate the tail fin and reaction jet of the missile work cooperatively when the deflection of aerodynamic rudder is in its limitation deflection and cannot supply enough torque via attitude deflection system. The stability analyses is provided for the closed-loop system in this paper. Finally, numerical simulations are given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed robust control law.
