A nanoparticle-bioconjugate was formed by homogeneous hybridization of one polynucleotide target with two oligonucleotide probes labelled by thiol and a nanoparticle, respectively. Deposition of the nanoparticle-bioconjugate on a gold surface by thiol-gold reaction was monitored in situ by quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) and applied for flow analysis of zeptomole amounts of polynucleotide. The formation in solution and adsorption of thiolated conjugates on gold could be fast, uniform and effective, and has been successfully exploited to construct a highly reproducible and sensitive platform for detection of target sequences. Being more rapid, reproducible, sensitive and amenable to automation than previously reported microgravimetric hybridization assays, this technology has great promise for practical applications in molecular diagnostics.
In this letter, a density measurement method by magnetic levitation using the rotation mechanism is presented. By rotating the entire magnetic levitation device that consists of four identical magnets, the horizontal centrifugal force and gravity can be balanced by the magnetic forces in the x-direction and the z-direction, respectively. The controllable magnified centripetal acceleration is investigated as a means to improve the measurement sensitivity without destabilization. Theoretical and experimental results show that the density measurement method can be flexible in characterizing small differences in density by tuning the eccentric distance or rotating speed. The rotating-mode density measurement method using magnetic levitation has prospects of providing an operationally simple way in separations and quality control of objects with arbitrary shapes in materials science and industrial fields.
Beijing general research institute for nonferrous metals (GRINM) has focused on developing nickel metal hydride (Ni/MH) batteries for electric vehicles (EVs) and related key materials since 1990. Some kinds of batteries has already used in electric vehicles and finished a good demonstration driving to and fro between Beijing and Tianjing city in china 1999. And more, in order to meet to the requirement of a fuel cell hybrid electric bus, a 100Ah/384V Ni/MH high power batteries and its battery management system (BMS) has been developed in 2002, the specific power of the 100Ah battery has reach 300 W/kg and specific energy reach 60Wh/kg, 1/3C to 3C bench tests of the 100Ah/384V battery system show excellent power performance. At the same time in order to meet the requirement of a oil-electricity hybrid electric car, a D-size 8Ah/336V Ni/MH high power battery and its BMS also has been developed in 2002, the 8Ah batteries can discharge with 10C to 30C rate, shows its specific power 800W/kg and specific energy 50Wh/kg. It appeared that those two batteries system all has excellent performance for Evs application.
Tuned liquid dampers (TLD) comprising of fluid filled tanks have been used to control the dynamic response of buildings subjected to wind or earthquake loads.The concept of tuned vibration dampers and optimum damping are presented in [1] using point masses.This was extended to elastic systems of beams [2] and cylinders and plates [3] and optimum absorber parameters studied.In [2,3] the approach is to derive expressions for the total kinetic and potential energies of the combined system before using Lagranges equations to derive the global equations of motion of the primary-secondary system.These give the global eigenvalues and responses.Fujina et al [4] study the behaviour of structures coupled to TLD's with low water level using the shallow-water wave theory under harmonic excitation.However this study deals with conventional rectangular tanks modelled by sloshing modal masses with small amplitude displacement.6) K.
Tooth decay is a common and frequent oral disease seriously affecting the quality of people's lives. According to the 2012 report by WHO, 60–90% of school children and nearly 100% of adults have had tooth decay. Hence the prevention and treatment of tooth decay are urgent and necessary. This chapter presents the basic knowledge regarding the structure of the natural human tooth and the formation mechanism of tooth decay, followed by the introduction of hydroxyapatite (HA)-filled biomimetic resin composites for caries treatment. Above all, novel biomimetic materials and methods of constructing enamel-like microstructure are reviewed.
Traditional Chinese medicine injection(TCMI) is a new preparation developing recent years, which is spreading because of the significant effect. Doctors acquire information of medicine from the prospectuses mainly. But due to many reasons, there are a lot of shortcomings such as lack of items, unknown of composition, the narrow scope, etc. Unreasonable drug use in field and dose happened frequently. Adverse reactions are often reported. They restricted the use of TCMI severely. We must pay attention to the market evaluation of TCMI, and improve the prospectuses gradually on the basis of clinical evidence. One hand, the use of drugs can be reference to it. On the other hand, it can avoid unreasonable use of drugs. We have done it in order to contribute to the clinical application of TCMI.
