We introduce a load-balanced adaptive routing algorithm for torus networks, GOAL - Globally Oblivious Adaptive Locally - that provides high throughput on adversarial traffic patterns, matching or exceeding fully randomized routing and exceeding the worst-case performance of Chaos [2], RLB [14], and minimal routing [8] by more than 40%. GOAL also preserves locality to provide up to 4.6× the throughput of fully randomized routing [19] on local traffic. GOAL achieves global load balance by randomly choosing the direction to route in each dimension. Local load balance is then achieved by routing in the selected directions adaptively. We compare the throughput, latency, stability and hot-spot performance of GOAL to six previously published routing algorithms on six specific traffic patterns and 1,000 randomly generated permutations.

Exploring real domain problems on the second generation neural network

This paper presents a competitive performance of second generation neural network (CVNN) on the two dimensional space over first generation neural network (RVNN) on single dimensional space. The real datasets problems are selected for proposed research work. The second-generation neural network is based on the theory of complex number. Complex numbers are forms of subset of real numbers having magnitude and phase to represent a real valued phenomenon. For the testing and training of real valued problems in complex domain, a mathematical approach Hilbert transformation is used to convert all the real valued data in complex form by sifting the phase by ±90 degree with same amplitude. For learning the network RBP and CBP algorithm is used over proposed benchmark datasets (both real and complex) to train the neural network. A new complex activation function (amplitude and phase type) is utilising by second generation neural network (CVNN). The results show improved efficacy and minimum number of learning cycles for Second generation neural network in complex domain over the first generation neural network in real domain.

Environment concerns have stirred up improved concern in the enlargement of gas detector for toxicant gases odorous detection. The appropriateness of such materials is due to less expense as compared with to other material. Gas leakage detector using gas sensorand also connect it with IoT using ESP8266 module for safety and security. IoT is currently used in development of healthcare and domestic atmosphere characteristic surveillance magnifies the international and national trade requirement for decreased gas or odorous detectors. Metal oxide gas detectors conventional utilized micro furnace invented with Micro- Electro-Mechanical System (MEMS) engineering science predominate the international and national commercialize in their balancing accomplishment presentation and low price. Gas detectors mostly implemented in various fields similar as farming, automotive industrial, smart domestic involuntary technique for domestic air characteristic and environmental monitoring. The 2% CuO dopped SnO2 based thick film invented detectors reaction with the temperature range of 150°C and 350°C for H2S toxic gas for concentration of (250 ppm-1500 ppm).

An experimental study on a pedestrian tracking device

The implemented navigational algorithm of an inertial navigation system (INS), along with the hardware configuration, decides its tracking performance. Besides, operating conditions also influence its tracking performance. The aim of this study is to demonstrate robust performance of a multiple Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) based foot-mounted INS, The Osmium MIMU22BTP, under varying operating conditions. The device, which performs zero-velocity-update (ZUPT) aided navigation, is subjected to different conditions which could potentially influence gait of its wearer, its hardware configuration etc. The gait-influencing factors chosen for study are shoe type, walking surface, path profile and walking speed. Besides, the tracking performance of the device is also studied for different number of on-board IMUs and the ambient temperature. The tracking performance of MIMU22BTP is reported for all these factors and benchmarked using identified performance metrics. We observe very robust tracking performance of MIMU22BTP. The average relative errors are less than 3 to 4% under all the conditions, with respect to drift, distance and height, indicating a potential for a variety of location based services based on foot mounted inertial sensing and dead reckoning.

A New PSO Technique Used for the Optimization of Multiobjective Economic Emission Dispatch

Most power is generated using fossil fuels like coal, natural gas, and diesel. The contribution of coal to power generation is very high compared to other sources. Almost all thermal power plants use coal as a fuel for power generation. Such sources of fossil fuels are limited and thus the cost of power generation increases. At the same time, the induced toxic gases due to these fossil fuels pollute the environment. The objective of this work is to solve the economic emission dispatch problem. Economic emission dispatch helps to find out how to operate power plants at the minimum cost and induce the minimum emissions at a thermal power plant. Economic emission dispatch with constraints is a nonlinear optimization problem. For the solution of such nonlinear economic emission load dispatch problems, this work considers a new particle swarm optimization technique. The proposed new PSO gives the best solution for economic emission load dispatch and handles the constraints. For the testing of the proposed new PSO algorithm, this work considered a case study of a system of six generating units, and it was tested for load demands of 700 MW, 800 MW, and 1000 MW. The results of the new PSO for the three load demands considered give the minimum generation cost, minimum emission, and minimum total cost compared to other optimization algorithms. The proposed techniques are effective, and they can help obtain the minimum generation cost and minimize emissions.

Recurrent Grid Based Voting Approach for Location Estimation in Wireless Sensor Networks

With the advent of location aware sensor applications, precise location discovery has become an important technology in wireless sensor networks. Inter Peer communication in the sensor network has been modeled as the graph with constraints defined in terms of proximity. Recurrent grid based voting approach (RGBV) has been introduced to estimate the location of unknown nodes in the network. Voting scheme is adopted on an iterative basis for the nodes. For each node, region of interest (ROI) with the maximum votes is figured out as the collection of two-dimensional points after recursive voting. Convex hull is generated from this set of points to frame the actual ROI. Additionally, minimum bounding rectangle algorithm has been applied to figure out the centroid of the region. The centroid thus estimated is the required location of unknown node. Our methodology is shown to have fast convergence with low estimation error, even for complex networks. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed method is promising for the current generation of sensor networks.

Foot-mounted inertial navigation made easy

Despite being around for almost two decades, foot-mounted inertial navigation only has gotten a limited spread. Contributing factors to this are lack of suitable hardware platforms and difficult system integration. As a solution to this, we present an open-source wireless foot-mounted inertial navigation module with an intuitive and significantly simplified dead reckoning interface. The interface is motivated from statistical properties of the underlying aided inertial navigation and argued to give negligible information loss. The module consists of both a hardware platform and embedded software. Details of the platform and the software are described, and a summarizing description of how to reproduce the module are given. System integration of the module is outlined and finally, we provide a basic performance assessment of the module. In summary, the module provides a modularization of the foot-mounted inertial navigation and makes the technology significantly easier to use.

Scalable opto-electronic network (SOENet)

In applications such as processor-memory interconnect, I/O networks, and router switch fabrics, an interconnection network must be scalable to thousands of high-bandwidth terminals while at the same time being economical in small configurations and robust in the presence of single-point faults. Emerging optical technology enables new topologies by allowing links to cover large distances but at a significant premium in cost compared to high-speed electrical links. Existing topologies do not cost-effectively exploit these optical links. In this paper we introduce SOENet, a family of topologies that exploits emerging high-speed optical and electrical links to provide cost effective scalability, and graceful degradation in the presence of faults. We show that SOENet scales more economically than alternative topologies. For networks scalable to 32,000 nodes, a 32-node SOENet costs 4x less than a 3-D torus. Finally we investigate the fault tolerance properties of these networks and show that they degrade more gracefully in the presence of faults than alternative topologies.
