A back‐arc transtensional origin for the Nanpanjiang basin in the pre‐Norian Triassic, with implications for the broader intracontinental development of South China

Abstract The generally accepted foreland interpretation of the Nanpanjiang basin has been regarded as providing support for the hypothesized Indosinian collision between the South China and Indochina blocks, and it has led to the long‐standing view that crustal shortening dominated the Triassic intracontinental development of South China. Here, we examine the stratigraphic architecture, magmatism and gross structural features of the Nanpanjiang basin. Outcrop studies indicate that a north‐stepping axial turbidite system was confined by intrabasinal faults, the active development of which is indicated by mass‐transport complexes. Field mapping combined with U–Pb dating of baddeleyite and zircon reveals that magmatism in the southern part of the basin coincides with a distinct episode of bimodal volcanism from ca. 244 to 242 Ma, and is unrelated to the middle Permian Emeishan plume. Differences in tectonic subsidence between hanging‐wall and footwall blocks, as that has been quantified by the backstripping of composite sections, show that synsedimentary dip slip along intrabasinal faults was of normal sense. Meanwhile, a role for strike‐slip deformation is registered by the left‐lateral offset of middle Permian and Middle Triassic piercing points and the exceptional preservation in outcrop of syndepositional negative flower structures. For these reasons, therefore, the pre‐Norian Triassic Nanpanjiang basin is thought to represent a transtensional back‐arc setting, a result that leads to an unresolved paradox: in adjacent parts of South China to the east, coeval development involves crustal thickening, nonmarine sedimentation and granitic plutonism. A new lateral decoupling model consistent with palaeomagnetic evidence for large‐scale block rotation is tentatively proposed here as a working hypothesis to explain the observed intracontinental evolution of South China during the Triassic assembly of eastern Asia. We propose that such decoupling may relate in part to the configuration of inherited crustal weaknesses.

Gravity Flow Sedimentation:Theoretical Studies and Field Identification

As an important sedimentary phenomenon,gravity flow sedimentation is widespread in deep-marine and deep-lacustrine environments.Obviously,differentiation of different types of gravity-flow sediments is crucial for reconstructing paleo-depositional environment.Four distinct types of gravity flows and their diagnostic sedimentary structures are introduced,which can be used as guide for field identification.Debris flow depositions are characterized of their disorganized internal texture,flat bed base,and parallelism of planar clasts to bedding.Thick-bedded and massive sandstones are usually formed by hyperconcentrated density flow;typified by occurrence of out-sized clasts,rip-up mudstones,water escape structures and other liquefaction-related structures.Grain flow is a subtype of hyperconcentrated density flows,and inverse grading is characteristic of its deposits.Concentrated density flow possesses the depositional characteristics of both hyperconcentrated density flow and turbidity current.Ta-d divisions in Bouma sequence are the products of one turbidity current event,but only Ta is formed from turbidity current.Tb-c divisions are actually generated from traction flow,whereas Td division is fallout deposits.Flow transformation can occur in the processes of gravity flows,and the gravity-flow sediments are often reworked by bottom currents and bypass flows to varying degrees.

Investigating HPV- and HPV Vaccine-Related Knowledge, Perceptions, and Information Sources among Health Care Providers in Three Big Cities in China

The limited access to vaccination and vaccine hesitancy are prevalent even among health care providers in less developed countries. This study assessed the relationships between (i) health care providers' knowledge on human papillomavirus (HPV) and vaccination for HPV and (ii) their perceptions, demographic characteristics, and the use of information sources. In this large-scale online survey, participants (n = 1394) were recruited from hospitals of three big cities in China (Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen). Descriptive analysis, the chi-square test, and logistic regression analysis were used to answer different research questions. Health care providers' overall knowledge scores are consistent with their perceptions about HPV and HPV vaccine. Occupation, specialty, the type of hospitals, and the frequency of participants' search for information using professional informational sources are the most significant characteristics that are closely associated with their knowledge of HPV and its vaccine. Targeted educational interventions are needed to improve health care providers' engagement in the promotion of the HPV vaccine. Such interventions, besides increasing knowledge, should also emphasize the importance of appropriate information sources to acquire information.

Formation of the Moping Dome in the Xuefengshan Orocline, Central China and its Tectonic Significance

Abstract: Many equiaxial dome‐like structures developed in the north segment of the Xuefengshan orocline, Central China are obviously inconcordant with the NE‐trending linear structures in this area, which contain important records for understanding the structural framework and evolution of this belt. In this paper, taking one of the typical dome‐like structures in the Xuefengshan orcline (e.g. Moping dome‐like structure) as an example, based on its structural framework interpratatoin, superposed deformation analysis and paleo‐stress fields reconstruction, we propose the Moping dome‐like structure is composed of two populations of different‐striking thrust‐fold structures, ∼E‐trending and NE‐striking structures, indicative of two‐stages shortening, ∼N‐ and NW‐striking, respectively. Together with the geochronological analysis, we suggest the first stage of shortening occurred in Late Triassic to Early Jurassic, due to the Indosinian intercollisional orogeny of the Yangtze Block and the North China Block The second occurred during Late Jurassic–Early Cretaceous owing to Yanshanian intracontinental orogeny, leading to the intensive superposition of the NE‐trending structures onto the ∼E‐trending structures, and the final ocurrence of the Moping dome. Thus, our study indicates the Xuefengshan arc‐shape belt also experienced two‐phase deformation, and resulted from the superposition of NE–SW structures onto ∼E–W structures in Late Jurassic–Early Cretaceous, which could provide new structural evidence for probing the Mesozoic tectonic framework and evolution of the Xuefengshan orocline.

Temperature Field Computation of CuCr Contact Under Large Impulse Current

To investigate the temperature field of Cu Cr contact in vacuum arc control device of switch,numerical analysis method was adopted to proposed a MATLAB algorithm, in which the influence of temperature on the contact material's hardness and the electric repulsion between contacts are considered, and the radius of conductive bridge can change in real time. Thus, the transient temperature field of the contact under large impulse current was obtained with the proposed algorithm, and the accuracy and effectiveness of the simulation were verified by experiment. The result shows that it is necessary to consider the influence of temperature on the contact's hardness in large current simulation.

Meso-Cenozoic tectonic evolution of the Dangyang Basin, north-central Yangtze craton, central China

Based on detailed structural data and available tectonic chronological data from the Dangyang Basin, the authors propose that the north-central Yangtze craton experienced three stages of tectonic evolution since Late Triassic time. In the Late Triassic to Early Jurassic (T3–J1), due to the Indosinian orogeny, nearly N–S compression and shortening occurred, which initiated the Dangyang Basin as a foreland basin of the Qinling–Dabie orogen. During the Late Jurassic–Early Cretaceous (J3–K1) period, the Yanshanian intracontinental orogeny caused contemporaneous NE–SW and NW–SE shortening, which resulted in intense folding of the foreland basin; contraction formed a brush structure diverging in a SE direction and strongly converging in a NW direction around the Huangling anticline. In the Late Cretaceous to Palaeogene, the Yuan'an and Hanshui grabens were separated from other parts of the Dangyang Basin due to post-orogenic ENE–WSW extension. Finally, at the end of the Palaeogene, ENE–WSW shortening led to inversion and deformation of the grabens.
