Spatial-Temporal Characteristics of Light-Temperature Potential Productivity on Cropland Occupation and Supplement in China in the Last 20 Years

It is of great significance to study the light-temperature potential productivity(LTPP) on cropland occupation and supplement for reasonable developing cropland resources and instructing grain production.This paper analyzed spatial-temporal characteristics of LTPP on cropland occupation and supplement for recent 20 years in terms of LTPP per unit area based on multiperiod land use change data and average annual LTPP from 1990 to 2010.The results demonstrate: 1) LTPP per unit area on cropland occupation was higher than on cropland supplement at country level from the 1980s to 2010.2)At regional level,LTPP per unit area on cropland occupation was continuously higher than on supplement in the last 20 years in producing areas of Northeast China Plain,arid and semiarid northern China,Qinghai Tibetan Plateau,South China and Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau.Cropland with lower LTPP per unit area was occupied and cropland with higher LTPP per unit area was supplemented in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.LTPP per unit area on occupation was higher for the former 10 years but however,lower for the latter 10 years in Sichuan Basin and the surrounding area,the Loess Plateau,and Hainan.The cropland with higher LTPP per unit area was supplemented for the former 10 years and occupied for the latter 10 years in Huang-Huai-Hai Plain.3)Better cropland occupied and worse cropland supplemented had an important effect on total LTPP at country level.4)The regions(Northeast China Plain,etc.),with a greater deal of cropland supplement than occupation were remarkably affected by better cropland occupied and worse cropland supplemented,which had a slight effect on the regions(South China and so on) with a greater deal of cropland occupation than supplement.Better cropland supplied than worse cropland occupied also slightly impacts the regions(the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and so on) where more cropland was occupied and less cropland was supplemented.

Anthropogenic Impact on the Terrestrial Environment in the Lake Dian Basin, Southwestern China during the Bronze Age and Ming–Qing period

The role of human activity in shaping the terrestrial environment has been a core scientific issue of interest across various disciplines. However, it remains unclear whether there are significant differences in the patterns of the anthropogenic impact on the terrestrial environment in terms of spatial and temporal dimensions, and we are yet to identify the underlying factors that have driven it. Here, we present an analysis of sporopollen and geochemical proxies from a section of the Anjiangbei site (AJB) on the Yunnan Plateau, spanning the Ming–Qing period, in order to explore the spatio-temporal variation in the anthropogenic impact on the terrestrial environment in the Lake Dian basin. Integrating the reported multidisciplinary evidence, we aim to reveal the influencing factors of anthropogenic impact. Our results show that there were remarkable differences in anthropogenic impact on the terrestrial environment in the Lake Dian basin between the Late Bronze Age and the Ming–Qing period. Changes in crop vegetation and the forest were all affected by human activity in the Lake Dian basin during the two periods, and were more evident during the Ming–Qing period. The heavy metal pollution in the soil was obvious during the Ming–Qing period. The increase in the intensity of human activity, especially the rise in population, could be attributed to changes in the hydrological environment in the Lake Dian basin during the Late Bronze Age and to geopolitical change during the Ming–Qing period. This study reveals the different patterns in human impact on the terrestrial environment in the Lake Dian basin during the Late Bronze Age and the Ming–Qing period, providing new evidence to enable a deeper understanding of past human–environment interactions on the Yunnan Plateau.

Topographic Dependence of Cropland Transformation in China during the First Decade of the 21st Century

Terrain plays a critical role in the selection of cropland. As a physical and geographical element of the landscape, terrain is an important limiting factor in land use change and has a strong influence on human activities. The objectives of this study are to investigate the topographic characteristics of cropland‐related transformations in China during the first decade of the 21st century and to explore the implications of land use change as it relates to securing a national food supply. A 2010 satellite‐based land use dataset and the DEM data were used to conduct spatial statistical analysis using altitude, slope, and fragmentation data. The results showed the following. (1) As the urbanization and industrialization of China occur, and China attempts to replace this occupied cropland with newly reclaimed cropland, the topography of the most recently reclaimed cropland has been more poorly suited to farming than the topography of the occupied cropland it replaces in most provinces. (2) The area of occupied cropland was much larger than of those reclaimed; the qualities of occupied and reclaimed cropland were significantly different. (3) Land reclamation mainly occurred in northern China, instead of in southern China, which has a higher level of economic development. Our findings imply that the potential area available for cropland production may be limited.

摘要: 随着人口的不断增加和经济的快速发展,粮食安全问题日益突出,而农业生产潜力可以描述某一地区的粮食生产能力,因此,研究农业生产潜力非常重要,对合理开发农业资源,指导农业生产,具有十分重要的现实意义。本研究在GIS技术、COM组件技术、插件技术等支持下,采用C#开发语言、ArcEngine开发组件、SQL Server数据库软件、ArcSDE空间数据库引擎,在Visual Studio .NET平台下设计、实现了一个集数据库管理、气象插值、农业生产潜力计算、农业生产潜力分析、农业生产潜力模型扩展、图形输出、系统管理于一体的农业生产潜力计算与分析系统。同时构建了一个具有统一坐标系统、数据格式、空间尺度,可以动态更新的农业生产潜力数据库。并以山东省为研究区,计算了山东省的农业生产潜力,分析了计算模型的合理性。系统应用结果表明,该系统可以很好地应用于农业生产潜力计算与分析,以及为农业生产潜力计算提供数据基础,且为农业生产潜力分析提供软件支持。

Antagonism of Metal Pyridinethiones and Their Degradation Products toward Estrogen Receptor α: A Combination of In Vitro, In Vivo, and In Silico Approaches

Metal pyrithiones (MePTs) are used as emerging antifouling biocides. Our recent studies have shown that one of the degradation products of MePTs, 2,2′-dithio-bis-pyridine, is a potential endocrine-disrupting chemical. However, the direct target remains unknown. This study was conducted to determine whether MePTs and their degradation products interact with estrogen receptor α (ERα). Electrochemical biosensors showed that MePTs and their degradation products bound to ERα. A two-hybrid yeast assay and E-screen indicated that co-exposure of MePTs and their degradation products to 17β-estradiol (E2) significantly inhibited E2-induced β-galactosidase activities and MCF-7 cell proliferation, with 30% inhibition concentrations ranging from 6.39 × 10–9 to 4.56 × 10–5, suggesting their anti-estrogenic activities in vitro. Among the eight compounds, 2-mercaptopyridine N-oxide (HPT) showed the most potent antagonism. Confocal microscope observation indicated that 10–7 mol/L HPT exposure caused an ectopic location of a partial primordial germ cell in EGFP-nanos-3′UTR transgenic line zebrafish embryos, and an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay showed that 10–7 mol/L HPT exposure downregulated hepatic vitellogenin protein levels in wild-type adult female zebrafish, indicating its ERα antagonism at an environmentally relevant concentration in vivo. Molecular docking showed that Glu353 participated in the hydrogen bond interaction of HPT with ERα. This study demonstrates that MePTs and their degradation products act as antagonists toward ERα.
