Fuzzy multilinkage thesaurus builder in multimedia information systems

The thesaurus is widely used in information indexing and retrieval for vocabulary control and concept search. Conceptual relationships are usually reciprocal and many-to-many, and can hardly be described precisely. To comply with the imprecise nature of the thesaurus, we have proposed and developed a fuzzy multilinkage thesaurus builder. The builder maintains a fuzzy membership degree for each relationship. The relationships are extensible and have an inheritance capability. The applications of the fuzzy multilinkage thesaurus builder to expand the query terms for multimedia information retrieval are presented.

Code cache management based on working set in dynamic binary translator

Software code cache employed to store translated or optimized codes, amortizes the overhead of dynamic binary translation via reusing of stored-altered copies of original program instructions. Though many conventional code cache managements, such as Flush, Least-Recently Used (LRU), have been applied on some classic dynamic binary translators, actually they are so unsophisticated yet unadaptable that it not only brings additional unnecessary overhead, but also wastes much cache space, since there exist several noticeable features in software code cache, unlike pages in memory. Consequently, this paper presents two novel alternative cache schemes-SCC (Static Code Cache) and DCC (Dynamic Code Cache) based on working set. In these new schemes, we utilize translation rate to judge working set. To evaluate these new replacement policies, we implement them on dynamic binary translator-CrossBit with several commonplace code cache managements. Through the experiment results based on benchmark SPECint 2000, we achieve better performance improvement and cache space utilization ratio.

Research on a Fast Decoding Method of the Quasi-cyclic LDPC Codes Based on Serial Message-Passing Schedule

针对准循环LDPC(QC-LDPC)码基于洪水消息传递机制译码算法的不足，该文提出了一种快速的分组串行译码算法。该算法通过将LDPC码的校验节点(或变量节点)按一定规则划分成若干个子集，在每一轮迭代过程中，依次对各个子集中的校验节点(或变量节点)并行地进行消息更新，提高了译码速度。同时根据分组规则，提出了一种有效的分组方法，并通过分析发现基于循环置换阵的准循环LDPC码非常适合采用这种分组译码算法进行译码。通过对不同消息传递机制下准循环LDPC码译码算法性能的仿真比较，验证了在复杂度不增加的情况下，该译码算法在继承了串行译码算法性能优异和迭代收敛快等优点的同时，极大地提高了准循环LDPC码的译码速度。分析表明，分组串行译码算法译码速度至少为串行译码算法的p倍(p为准循环LDPC码校验矩阵中循环置换阵的行数或列数)。

As an important form of entertainment, this paper delves into global cinema, analyzing the significant factors that have shaped the patterns people watch and evaluate films in recent years. The paper focuses on three primary dynamics: the COVID-19 pandemic, the diminishing qualities of movies themselves including the proliferating numbers of remakes and sequels, a perceived decline in film quality attributed to Hollywood's emphasis on political correctness, as well as the emergence of streaming services and short video applications. The epidemic has greatly transformed the conventional practice of seeing movies in theaters, expediting the transition to digital platforms. Simultaneously, there is widespread discontent among people over the current standard of movies. The emergence of streaming and platforms for short-form material has caused the audience to become more divided, providing a wide range of options for viewing and posing a challenge to the traditional cinema model. The complex interplay between these forces and their collective influence on the future of film as a cultural and entertainment medium.

Development of a Metadata-Based Search Engine

The aim of this study is to develop a secure, metadata-based web information search tool. The search engine mentioned in this paper which uses desktop search technology based on metadata can reduce the need of the central server by introducing parallel computing. The author focuses on solving problems including privacy, security and incompletion by introducing a new architecture.
