Modeling and Characterization of Capacitive Coupling Intrabody Communication in an In-Vehicle Scenario

Intrabody communication (IBC) has drawn extensive attention in the field of ubiquitous healthcare, entertainment, and more. Until now, most studies on the modeling and characterization of capacitive coupling IBC have been conducted in open space, while influences when using metallic-enclosed environments such as a car, airplane, or elevator have not yet been considered. In this paper, we aimed to systematically investigate the grounding effect of an enclosed metal wall of a vehicle on the transmission path loss, utilizing the finite element method (FEM) to model capacitive coupling IBC in an in-vehicle scenario. The results of a simulation and experimental validation indicated that the system gain in an in-vehicle scenario increased up to 7 dB compared to in open space. The modeling and characterization achieved in this paper of capacitive coupling IBC could facilitate an intrabody sensor design and an evaluation with great flexibility to meet the performance needs of an in-vehicle use scenario.

Optimization of the Anaerobic-Anoxic-Oxic Process by Integrating ASM2d with Pareto Analysis of Variance and Response Surface Methodology

Wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) are high-energy-consuming units. Reasonable operation strategies can enable WWTPs to meet discharge standards while reducing the operating cost. In this study, the activated sludge model 2d (ASM2d), Pareto analysis of variance (ANOVA), and response surface methodology (RSM) were jointly used to simulate and optimize the operation of a lab-scale anaerobic-anoxic-oxic (AAO) reactor. The optimization objective was to determine the optimal design and operational parameters (DOPs) that could enhance both pollutant removal and energy saving. The DOPs that had significant influence on the optimization objective, such as sludge retention time (SRT), dissolved oxygen (DO), and the ratio of biodegradable chemical oxygen demand to total nitrogen (BCOD/TN), were identified by Pareto ANOVA. The optimal DOPs with SRT of 15 days, DO concentration of 0.5 mg/L, and BCOD/TN of 5.21 were determined by RSM. Under the optimal conditions, the removal efficiencies of NH4+-N, total nitrogen (TN), and total phosphorus (TP) were 96.2%, 76.8%, and 92.8%, respectively, and the annual operating cost was $26.4. Furthermore, this combination of DOPs was validated using a pilot-scale AAO system. The TN and TP removal efficiencies were improved by 11.0% and 5.0%, respectively, and the annual operating cost could be reduced by 15.0%. Overall, this study confirmed that the method integrating ASM2d with Pareto ANOVA and RSM was effective in optimizing wastewater treatment processes.

Study on the Effect of Horizontal Auxiliary Gas on the Flow Characteristics of Spouted Bed

Experiments were carried out in a spouted bed of ID 195mm plexiglass column with a 60° conical base, and auxiliary gas was introduced horizontally. The experimental results show that horizontal introduction of auxiliary gas has more effectiveness on the minimum spouting gas velocity than vertical introduction of auxiliary gas. The former can decrease the minimum spouting velocity than the later. With increasing the proportion of auxiliary gas velocity for a fixed total gas velocity, the voidage in the spout decreases which means more circulation of particles. Comparatively, spouting gas velocity has distinct effect on the particle velocity in the spout, but auxiliary gas velocity affects the particle velocity in the annulus markedly.

Design and Operation of Treatment Engineering for Printing and Dyeing Wastewater

According to the characteristics of printing and dyeing wastewater, the hydrolytic acidification, bio-connect-oxidation, flotation decolorization processes are used to treat the printing and dyeing wastewater. The results show that COD, BOD and SS of the effluent can meet the textile and dyeing industry water pollutants discharge standard of the second grade. The process has the characteristics of low project investment and operation cost and stable operation results and can be widely used in practical engineering.

Study on Suitable Plant Density and Fertilizer Quantity for Spring Wheat Planted by Raised-bed Methods

In irrigated area of Hexi oasis of Gansu,Study the suitable plant density and fertilizer quantity for spring wheat planted by raise-bed methods,the results showed that effects of plant density and fertilizer quantity on yield of raised-bed planting spring wheat are very obvious,and the interaction between plant density and fertilizer is still obvious.The circumstance of high fertilizer quantity is propitious to increase the seeds per spike of raised-bed planting spring wheat,and there are some adjusted and compensated effect on plant density;Increased the plant density and fertilizer quantity at the same time,is propitious to improve the yield level of raised-bed planting spring wheat,if the plant density is too high,the yield of spring wheat will decrease.Under the circumstance of raised-bed planting,the suitable plant density ofspring wheat is 6 750 000～7 500 000 plants/hm2,and the suitable fertilizer quantity is N 180 kg/hm2,P2O5 144 kg/hm2.

Biomimetic Design of a Dynamic M–O–V Pyramid Electron Bridge for Enhanced Nitrogen Electroreduction

Electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction (eNRR) offers a sustainable route for ammonia synthesis; however, current electrocatalysts are limited in achieving optimal performance within narrow potential windows. Herein, inspired by the heliotropism of sunflowers, we present a biomimetic design of Ru-VOH electrocatalyst, featuring a dynamic Ru–O–V pyramid electron bridge for eNRR within a wide potential range. In situ spectroscopy and theoretical investigations unravel the fact that the electrons are donated from Ru to V at lower overpotentials and retrieved at higher overpotentials, maintaining a delicate balance between N2 activation and proton hydrogenation. Moreover, N2 adsorption and activation were found to be enhanced by the Ru–O–V moiety. The catalyst showcases an outstanding Faradaic efficiency of 51.48% at −0.2 V (vs RHE) with an NH3 yield rate exceeding 115 μg h–1 mg–1 across the range of −0.2 to −0.4 V (vs RHE), along with impressive durability of over 100 cycles. This dynamic M–O–V pyramid electron bridge is also applicable to other metals (M = Pt, Rh, and Pd).
