COMPARATIVE EVALUATION OF CARDIOVASCULAR PARAMETERS OF PROPOFOL / ETOMIDATE FOR ABDOMINAL SURGERIES IN CALVES

The calves presented with abdominal affections requiring surgical interventions were randomly divided into group I and group II with seven animals in each group. All the animals were premedicated with dexmedetomidine at 2 µg/kg body weight, pentazocine at 1 mg/kg body weight and midazolam at 0.2 mg/kg body weight intravenously. In group I and group II, anaesthetic induction was carried out with propofol at 2 mg/kg body weight and etomidate at 0.25 mg/kg body weight intravenously, respectively. Both the groups were maintained in Isoflurane anaesthesia with modified oro-endotracheal tube. The cardiovascular parameters such as heart rate, mean arterial blood pressure, systolic and diastolic blood pressure were monitored during different stages of anaesthesia in both the groups. In both the groups, a significant decrease in heart rate was noticed after premedication and anaesthetic induction. A Significant increase was noticed in systolic blood pressure values after anaesthetic induction and 10th minute of anaesthesia in group I and a highly significant increase was noticed after induction up to 10 minutes in group II. A highly significant increase in diastolic blood pressure was noticed after induction and 10th minute in group I, whereas significant increase was noticed in mean arterial pressure after induction and 15th minute of anaesthesia in group II animals. The cardiovascular parameters recorded in the present study concluded etomidate produced better cardiovascular stability and minimal respiratory depression compared to propofol throughout the anaesthetic period.

Comparative Efficacy of Prolactin inhibitors and PGF2 analogue in Bitches Affected with Cystic Endometrial Hyperplasia-Pyometra Complex

The study was carried out at the Veterinary Clinical Complex, College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Mhow and in private clinics across Indore on 30 bitches suffering from Cystic Endometrial Hyperplasia-Pyometra Complex (CEH-PC). The animals were randomly subdivided into five groups each of six bitches and treated with bromocriptine (1 g/kg POx5 days) and cabergoline (5 g/kg POx5 days) alone and in combination with cloprostenol (5 g/kg s/c on day 0, 2 and 6) (Gr II to V) together with enrofloxacin (10-20 mg/kg PO, SID×5 days) + combination of metronidazole and povidone-iodine IU (5-10 ml×3 days), the later served as routine control Gr I.The treatment response of animals was evaluated through clinical, ultrasonographical, haematological and biochemical parameters. Blood samples were collected from cephalic or saphenous vein just before treatment (day 0) and after treatment on day 6 and day 14. Treatment approach -III (cabergoline 5 g/kg POx5 days) was found to be the most effective without side effects with significant decrease in uterine luminal diameter after treatment. The results showed significant improvement in haemato-biochemical attributes in dogs affected with CEH-P complex following treatment IV and V, i.e. with use of bromocriptine and cabergoline in combination with cloprostenol as compared to other groups.

Hepatitis is inflammation of liver parenchyma mostly caused by viruses and other factors. It’s a non-specific prodromal illness characterized by headache, myalgia, arthralgia, nausea, anorexia, dark urine, yellow discoloration of skin, mucosa, sclera and other tissues etc. Methodology: A diagnosed case of hepatitis, 37yrs old female patient, admitted in at Government Ayurvedic college & Hospital, Kadam Kaun, Patna, Having IPD No.1006, RN.7178. Based on symptoms, supported by blood investigation reports and Ayurvedic parameters, the condition diagnosed as Yakritsotha. Oral medicines given: Aryogyavardhini Vati, Punarnava Mandur, Shallaki, Syp. Kalmegh, Kasis Bhasm, Liv 52 HB, Phaltrikadi Kwatha, cap. Stresscom along with Pathya apathya ahara vihara were prescribed. Result: There was drastic decrease in all the symptoms. The effect of treatment was monitored during the follow up with routine blood examinations. The bilirubin level decreased from initial 6.2mg/dl to 1.0mg/dl. Discussion: This article is a discussion about a case of Hepatitis which was successfully treated by Ayurvedic line of treatment. The signs and symptoms, causes, pathos-physiology of Hepatitis, along with its co-relation in Ayurveda as Yakritsotha, its line of treatment and possible the mode of action of drugs were the main points of consideration. Conclusion: Use of medicines such as Aryogyavardhini Vati, Punarnava Mandur, Shallaki, Syp. Kalmegh, Kasis Bhasm, Liv 52 HB, Phaltrikadi Kwatha, cap. Stresscom along with Pathya apathy ahara vihara showed good result without any complication in the present study.

Smart agriculture uses the internet of things, usually for irrigation purposes.IoT is employed in this case to manage the water log on fields.The soil moisture sensor is used to keep track of the soil moisture in agricultural areas.The Cloud Service Brokerage issues a directive to the relay telling it to turn ON the suction motor when the moisture level reaches a specific level.The farmland's extra water is removed by the suction motor.With this proposal, we want to use IoT to analyze the availability of micronutrients and control the excess water log in farming.This semi-automated water management system can operate independently or be managed using a smartphone app.The weather at that particular place may be analyzed using the DHT sensor values, and it can be projected using a prediction algorithm for the following 10 days.IoT refers to the idea of linking all gadgets to the internet and enabling internet-based communication between them.The Internet of Things (IoT) is a vast network of interconnected gadgets that collectively gather and share information about their usage and the settings in which they function.IoT is an agricultural use of contemporary information and communication technologies.A system for agricultural monitoring is constructed using sensors

COMPARISON OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF POSTURAL EXERCISES WITH INTERFERENTIAL THERAPY AND ISOMETRIC EXERCISES WITH INTERFERENTIAL THERAPY FOR MEHANICAL NECK PAIN ON IT PROFESSIONALS

Abstract - Mechanical neck pain is defined as generalized neck pain provoked by sustained neck postures, neck movement and pain on palpation of cervical musculature without pathologies. Mechanical neck pain is experienced by 30 % to 50 % of the general population. Objective: 1. To find the effect of postural exercises with interferential therapy for mechanical neck pain on IT professionals with NPQ and Pressure algometer. 2.To find the effect of isometric exercises with interferential therapy for mechanical neck pain on IT professionals with NPQ and Pressure algometer. Method: STUDY DESIGN: Quasi Experimental study. SAMPLING TECHNIQUE: Convenient Sampling technique. SAMPLE SIZE: 40. Result: From statistical analysis made with the quantitative data revealed statistically significant difference between the Group A and Group B and also within the group. The post-test mean value of NPQ in experimental group was 35.365 and conventional group was 44.515. The post mean value of PRESSURE ALGOMETER in experimental group was 8.65 and in control group was 6.15 Thus experimental group has high statistical difference than control group. Conclusion: According to the findings of this study, postural exercises with IFT in the experimental group was found to be more beneficial than isometric exercises with IFT in control group in lowering pain and leading to faster recovery in participants with mechanical neck pain. Alterations in retrobulbar hemodynamics in thyroid eye disease

Abstract Purpose: To study the orbital perfusion parameters of ophthalmic artery (OA) and central retinal artery (CRA) in inactive TED and the changes following surgical decompression. Methods: Non-randomised clinical trial. 24 inactive moderate-to-severe TED orbits of 24 euthyroid cases underwent surgical decompression and examined again at 3 months. The peak systolic velocity (PSV), end-diastolic velocity (EDV), and resistivity index (RI) of OA and CRA were evaluated using color doppler imaging and normative database was established using 18 healthy controls. Results: The mean age was 39.38 + 12.56 years and male: female ratio was 1: 1.18. Intraocular pressure was higher, and CRA – PSV, CRA – RI, OA – PSV, and OA – EDV were lower in TED in comparison to heathy orbits. The CRA – PSV, CRA – EDV, OA – PSV, and OA – EDV negatively correlated with proptosis and duration of thyroid disease. The area under curve of OA – PSV (95% CI:0.964-1.000, p<0.001) and OA – EDV (95% CI:0.699-0.905, p<0.001) helped in differentiating TED orbits from healthy controls, and in predicting the severity of disease. Post decompression, CRA – PSV, CRA – EDV, OA – PSV, and OA – EDV improved, with decrease in CRA – RI and OA – RI in both lipogenic and myogenic orbitopathy. Conclusions: The orbital perfusion is reduced in inactive TED. The changes in OA flow velocities can help in differentiating inactive TED from healthy orbits and progression of TED. Sequential orbital CDI of OA and CRA can serve as an objective tool for case selection and monitoring response to surgical decompression.

Background: The treatment in organic catatonia includes benzodiazepines, ECT and treatment of underlying condition. In a pilot study1, Lorazepam produced sedation, hypotension and respiratory depression. Tofisopam, (FDA approved for IBS2) was safe and effective which can be a treatment alternative. This study was designed to study the efficacy and adverse effects of Tofisopam in organic catatonia. Materials and Methods: This study included 60 patients irrespective of age and gender with diagnosis of Organic Catatonia (F061, ICD-10). Patients with Delirium, Psychiatric illness and SUD were excluded. Busch Francis Catatonia Rating Scale (BFCRS) was used to assess the features of catatonia at baseline and at 48 to 72 hours. Tofisopam 50-100mg/day was administered. Changes in BP, RR, spO2 and GCS was noted. Paired T test, Chi square test, Pearson’s correlation and SPSS 17 was used. Results and Discussion: The mean age was 54.27 ± 16.5 years with 46 males and 14 females. The mean baseline score in BFCRS was 11.73+-1.31. Out of 60 patients, 44 (71%) had response. Response was defined as reduction of catatonic signs to 1 or none on 14 item BFCRS3. Response occurred in CKD, Parkinsonism, Hypertensive encephalopathy, post-CABG and post-GI surgery patients. No response occurred in Septicemia, CKD with Multi-organ Failure. The domains with significant response were Stupor, Mutism, Staring, Posturing, Rigidity, Negativism and Withdrawal without significant side-effects. Tofisopam (mixed dopamine agonist- antagonist)4 modulates the hypo-dopaminergic state in catatonia. Its non-sedative, non-hypotensive5 property can explain the added advantage over lorazepam. Conclusion: Tofisopam can be a safe and effective alternative treatment in Organic Catatonia.
