Acupuncture for Primary Dysmenorrhea: A Potential Mechanism from an Anti-Inflammatory Perspective

The low adverse effects of acupuncture for primary dysmenorrhea (PD), known as one of the most commonly reported gynecological debilitating conditions affecting women's overall health, have been thus far confirmed. Moreover, it has been increasingly recognized that inflammation is involved in such menstrual cramps, and recent studies have further shown that the anti-inflammatory effects of acupuncture are helpful in its control. This review portrays the role of inflammation in PD pathophysiology, provides evidence from clinical and animal studies on acupuncture for inflammation-induced visceral pain, and reflects on acupuncture-related therapies for dysmenorrhea with regard to their anti-inflammatory characteristics. Further research accordingly needs to be carried out to clarify the effects of acupuncture on proinflammatory factors in PD, particularly chemokines and leukocytes. Future studies on this condition from an anti-inflammatory perspective should be also performed in line with the notion of emphasizing stimulation modes to optimize the clinical modalities of acupuncture. Additionally, the effects and mechanism of more convenient self-healing approaches such as TENS/TEAS for PD should be investigated.

Research on W/Cu Functionally Graded Materials as Divertor Material in China

Tungsten has the highest sputtering threshold of all possible candidates and the highest melting point in metal. It will be the first candidate in selecting divertor materials. Great efforts are made on research and development on W/Cu functionally Graded Materials as high performance divertor material for next generation divertor-mounted Tokamak facilities in China recently. Four different processing technologies are used and compared and some results of evaluation of plasma-relevant characteristics of these materials are reported.

Effect of Hyperlipemia to Thrombosis in Vitro

Objective To study the effect of hyperlipemia on thrombosis in vitro.Methods 16 Purebred New Zealand rabbits with 1.5～2.0kg and 4～6 months old were divided into 2 groups:control group(basal feed) and high fat feed group(high fat and basal feed).To determine plasma fibrinogen,fibrin thrombus,length of thrombus,wet weight of thrombus and dry weight of thrombus before feeding and 3 months after feeding,spectively.Results The result demonstrated plasma fibrinogen,fibrin thrombus,length of thrombus,wet weight of thrombus and dry weight of thrombus of high fat feed group were higher than control group (P0.01).Conclusion Hyperlipemia facilitates thrombosis in vitro.

Carboxylating Elastomer via Thiol‐Ene Click Reaction to Improve Miscibility with Conjugated Polymers for Mechanically Robust Organic Solar Cells with Efficiency of 19%

Incorporating flexible insulating polymers is a straightforward strategy to enhance the mechanical properties of rigid conjugated polymers, enabling their use in flexible electronic devices. However, maintaining electronic characteristics simultaneously is challenging due to the poor miscibility between insulating polymers and conjugated polymers. This study introduces the carboxylation of insulating polymers as an effective strategy to enhance miscibility with conjugated polymers via surface energy modulation and hydrogen bonding. The carboxylated elastomer, synthesized via a thiol-ene click reaction, closely matches the surface energy of the conjugated polymer. This significantly improves the mechanical properties, achieving a high crack-onset strain of 21.48%, surpassing that (5.93%) of the unmodified elastomer:conjugated polymer blend. Upon incorporating the carboxylated elastomer into PM6:L8-BO-based organic solar cells, an impressive power conversion efficiency of 19.04% is attained, which top-performs among insulating polymer-incorporated devices and outperforms devices with unmodified elastomer or neat PM6:L8-BO. The superior efficiency is attributed to the optimized microstructures and enhanced crystallinity for efficient and balanced charge transport, and suppressed charge recombination. Furthermore, flexible devices with 5% carboxylated elastomer exhibit superior mechanical stability, retaining ≈88.9% of the initial efficiency after 40 000 bending cycles at a 1 mm radius, surpassing ≈83.5% for devices with 5% unmodified elastomer.

A giant hepatic cavernous hemangioma with an abdominal wall hemangioma: a case report

Abstract Introdoction: Hepatic cavernous hemangioma is the most common benign tumor of the liver without special treatment，which is very common in clinical work.But some larger cavernous hemangioma has the risk of bleeding, clinical diagnosis and treatment of large hepatic cavernous hemangioma is of great significance.Case presentation: The patient was a 45-year-old middle-aged woman who was admitted to the hospital due to a large lesion of the abdominal wall. At first, she was considered as having a melanoma of the abdominal wall. After imaging and pathological examinations, she was diagnosed as having a giant cavernous hemangioma of the liver. Percutaneous hepatic artery superselective angiography and embolization significantly reduced the lesions.Conclusion: Hepatic cavernous hemangioma is relatively more common clinically, but there are few reports of multiple and huge hemangioma, as reported here, our patient had a large abdominal wall hemangioma. It is speculated that the coexistence of the two is related. In fact,during embryonic development,the fetus and mother are connected by two umbilical arteries and one umbilical vein. An aneurysm-like deformity caused by excessive development or abnormal differentiation of blood vessels during the developmental process may be the cause of the patient's massive abdominal wall and liver hemangiomas.
