FLOW VISUALIZATION IN RIGHT CORONARY ARTERY BYPASS MODELS

It is well known from fundamental fluid mechanics that separation regions occur at bends and bifurcations of blood vessels. In addition to this, a secondary flow is also created. This means that the flow is moving forward like a vortical plait. Vortices are created that move counterclockwise to each other perpendicular to the mainstream direction. Three-dimensional flow exists, which is totally different to the well-known parabolic flow in straight pipes under laminar flow conditions. Therefore, a short fundamental introduction to biofluid mechanics is presented in this paper. A coronary artery model with different bypasses is shown as an example. The coronary artery is a prominent cardiac vessel often affected by the atherosclerosis process, which can lead to its full blockage. Blood flow is restored by the construction of a bypass performed by implanting part of the saphenous vein. This bypass is subjected to varying flow conditions during the various phases of pulsatile blood flow. For precise location of the regions associated with flow abnormalities, flow visualization through the complete bypass, covering the arterial and bypass sections, is required. This forms the objective of the present work: to visualize flow changes in bypass models of the right coronary artery prior to its bifurcation under pulsatile flow conditions.

Network biomarkers of schizophrenia by graph theoretical investigations of Brain Functional Networks

Brain Functional Networks (BFNs), graph theoretical models of brain activity data, provide a systems perspective of complex functional connectivity within the brain. Neurological disorders are known to have basis in abnormal functional activities, that could be captured in terms of network markers. Schizophrenia is a pathological condition characterized with altered brain functional state. We created weighted and binary BFN models of schizophrenia patients as well as healthy subjects starting from fMRI data in an effort to search for network biomarkers of the disease. We investigated 45 topological features of BFNs and their higher order combinations (2 to 8). We find that network features embodying modularity, betweenness, assortativity and edge density emerge as key markers of schizophrenia. Also, features derived from weighted BFNs were observed to be more effective in disease classification as compared to those from binary BFNs. These topological markers may provide insights into mechanisms of functional activity underlying disease phenotype and could further be used for designing algorithms for clinical diagnosis of schizophrenia as well as its early detection.

Background:Everyone has a different brain programming some people have a brilliant concentration but some people struggle to focus on things or to pay attention.This, research is focused on the importance of concentration for learners as the previous studies also concluded that higher levels of concentration are vulnerable to distractions. Hence this research is intended to assess the reports generated from the Aimtest tool administered by 8 Infinity Education Research group in India with the end view of identifying its implication to enhance the human concentration level. Materials and Methods: This prospective study operates on evocative research method which involved the use of documentary analysis, questionnaires and interviews with voluntary opted respondents carried by researchers' approach and analysis pertaining to the content of the data. Result: In this pilot study,we recruited 159 individuals age 8 to 20 years between the academic standard levels 4th to 12th who were chosen after consent for this assessment. The Aimtest calculated their Memory, concentration level and, reading speed with the proven formulas. We have found overall 83.64% satisfaction rate among all the categories. Conclusion: Based on the descriptive research our findings suggest that this tool can be used to enhance the concentration level as well as it can also be embodied in academic institutions to improve on the learning ability of students
