The present study was planned to search for an animal model to study the pathogenesis and therapeutics of Alzheimer's disease. A total of 25 dogs were taken for this study and the distribution of antigens were investigated using mouse monoclonal antibodies against APP (C-terminal), tau (AT8), Abeta (8‒17; 33‒40 and 37‒42), 4-hydroxynonenal protein (an oxidative damage product) and rabbit antibody against advanced glycation end products (AGE). The amounts of reaction product were analysed semiquantitatively. Moreover, for oxidative damage brain extracts were analyzed for lipofuscin-like compounds by tridimensional fluorescence spectroscopy. APP-positive cells were recognized regardless of the age of dogs. Amyloid deposition was noticed in cerebral blood vessels and brain parenchyma of the aged dogs. Some dispersed tau-positive neurons were found in increasing numbers in the cerebral cortex and basal nuclei of the older dogs and an AGE-positive signal was seen in degenerating neurons, astrocytes, macrophages and cerebral blood vessel walls of the older animals. Brain extracts revealed a clear difference between age groups excitation patterns of lipofuscin-like pigments.

S4122nd ESTRO Forum 2013 descriptive scores and distribution. No floor/ceiling effect (defined as more than 15% of respondents having respectively the lowest/highest score) was found except for the 'PSA anxiety' subscale (floor effect, 72% of respondents). The Cronbach's α coefficients were high (α ≥ 0.70 good internal consistency) for total score (α = 0.80), 'PCa anxiety' (α = 0.87) and 'fear of recurrence' (α = 0.77) subscales.Internal consistency was lower for 'PSA anxiety' subscale (α = 0.62).The means of item to total correlation coefficients were: 0.63 (range 0.45-0.76)for 'PCa anxiety', 0.36 (range 0.2-0.46)for 'PSA anxiety' and 0.68 (range 0.65-0.75)for 'fear of recurrence' (scores below 0.75 suggest deleting the item). Conclusions:The 'PCa anxiety' and the 'fear of recurrence' subscales showed strong internal consistency and reliability. The reliability of 'PSA anxiety' subscale was rather weak, as observed in the original version of the MAX-PC.Recruitment of RT pts is ongoing.Further analyses will include reliability of the questionnaire over time (test re-test correlations), factor analyses and test validation to discriminate PCa specific related anxiety in an Italian population.
Abstract Das Chinon (I) reagiert mit tert.‐Butylhydroperoxid unter Phasentransferbedingungen in Gegenwart von 1‐Benzylchininiumchlorid (BQC) zum Epoxid (II), dessen Reduktion ein Gemisch der Alkohole (III) und (IV) ergibt.
QUAD SHOT is an ultra-hypofractionated radiotherapy (RT) technique that prescribes 14.0–14.8 Gy over 2 days. Although this technique has already gained some status as an effective palliative treatment for inoperable head and neck cancer (HNC), its application in other situations has not been given much consideration. Herein, we report a case of a 62-year-old woman who received preoperative QUAD SHOT therapy for poorly differentiated parotid carcinoma. In this case, after two courses of QUAD SHOT plus a standard chemotherapy regimen with pembrolizumab, the patient’s inoperable bulky tumor shrank dramatically and became operable. Best of all, while adequate therapeutic effects were achieved, the patient’s time commitment and physical exertion were limited. RT during this period consisted of only eight fractions over four days. According to previous reports, the response rate for QUAD SHOT is sufficiently high, and the rate of serious adverse events is quite low. This case asks the question of whether the indications for QUAD SHOT irradiation can be expanded as one of the preoperative interventions undertaken by HNC surgeons to achieve conversion surgery.
