Exploring the Effectiveness of an Elementary School Survival Swimming Education Program to Reinforce Physical Practice Competence in Students

본 연구는 초등학교 학생들을 대상으로 실시되는 수영교육에서 신체 수련 역량 강화를 위한 생존 수영교육 프로그 램을 개발 및 적용하여 그 효과성을 양적, 질적으로 검증하는데 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위하여 서울 시 소재 D초등학교 3학년 1반 학생 25명은 실험반으로, 3학년 2반 학생 24명은 비교반으로 설정하여 연구를 진행 하였다. 생존 수영교육 프로그램의 효과성에 대한 양적 검증은 검사지를 바탕으로 한 대응표본 t-검증과 독립표본 t-검증을 실시하였으며, 실기 평가 검증으로 10초 떠 있기와 10m 이동하기를 측정하여 비교ㆍ분석하였다. 질적 검 증은 연구 참여자와의 심층 면담, 수업 소감문 작성, 참여 관찰의 방법을 실시하였다. 그 결과 초등학교 생존 수영 교육 프로그램은 신체적 자기 효능감의 네 가지 하위 요소 중 수영 효능감, 운동 기능 효능감, 운동 참여 효능감의 향상에 기여한 것으로 분석되었다. 그러나 체형 및 외모 효능감의 향상에는 기여하지 못한 것으로 나타났는데, 이 것은 단기간의 수영교육이 학생들의 체형 변화에 큰 영향을 주지 못했으며, 자신의 외모에 대한 생각을 변화시키는 것에도 한계가 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한 초등학교 생존 수영교육 프로그램은 체육수업 만족도의 네 가지 하위 요소인 상호작용 만족도, 체육 환경 만족도, 운동 능력 만족도, 운동 평가 만족도 모두의 향상에 기여한 것으로 분 석되었으며, 실기 평가 검증인 10초 뜨기와 10m 이동하기에서도 통계적으로 유의미한 교육적 성과를 제공하였다. 질적 연구 결과로써 초등학교 생존 수영교육 프로그램은 학생들의 신체적 자기 효능감 및 체육수업의 만족도 향상 뿐만 아니라 학교 수영교육에서 생존 수영교육 도입의 필요성을 인식하게 하였고, 자유형 중심의 영법 수영교육에 대한 문제점을 확인하였으며, 수영교육을 위한 행정적, 재정적, 환경적 지원의 확대가 필요하다는 것을 확인시켜주었다.

Structural Relationships among Health Concern, Health Practice and Health Status of the Disabled

Objectives: This study was performed to determine the relationships among health concern, health practice and health status of the disabled. Methods: A self-administered questionnaire survey was carried out for 1,662 disabled persons in Taegu city from April to July, 1997. Results: Health concern had a significant and positive relationship with health practice(p2.0). Educational level and type of disability had significant direct effects on health practice(T>2.0). And Economic status, medical security type and job status had significant direct effects on health status(T>2.0). In women, economic status and educational level had significant direct effects on Health concern(T>2.0). However there was no variable which had a significant direct effect on health practice. Job status had a significant direct effect or health status(T>2.0). In men and women, health practice was significantly increased with increasing health concern and the more health practice, the higher health status(T>2.0). Conclusions: It is recommended that the institutional approach which improve the economic status of the disabled with understanding their behavior and attitude should be established to increase health status, in addition, the health policy for encouraging the disabled, such as health education, consulting and health promotion program, should be done.

A Benchmark for Generalizable and Interpretable Temporal Question Answering over Knowledge Bases

Knowledge Base Question Answering (KBQA) tasks that involve complex reasoning are emerging as an important research direction. However, most existing KBQA datasets focus primarily on generic multi-hop reasoning over explicit facts, largely ignoring other reasoning types such as temporal, spatial, and taxonomic reasoning. In this paper, we present a benchmark dataset for temporal reasoning, TempQA-WD, to encourage research in extending the present approaches to target a more challenging set of complex reasoning tasks. Specifically, our benchmark is a temporal question answering dataset with the following advantages: (a) it is based on Wikidata, which is the most frequently curated, openly available knowledge base, (b) it includes intermediate sparql queries to facilitate the evaluation of semantic parsing based approaches for KBQA, and (c) it generalizes to multiple knowledge bases: Freebase and Wikidata. The TempQA-WD dataset is available at https://github.com/IBM/tempqa-wd.

An Analysis of the Needs of Korean EFL Learners in the Collegiate Level

<p><em>This study aims to identify the learning needs and preferences of Korean EFL learners in the collegiate level studying at a university in Korea. The result of this study indicates that the respondents feel, among the four macro skills of English, speaking and writing are as equally difficult skills to master. These were followed by reading and listening, respectively. Also as the goal of English learning, the respondents answered getting a high score in such tests as TOEIC and TOEFL. As the effective strategies to learn English, the respondents consider immediate correction of mistakes in speaking and writing and using English as a method of instruction to be effective learning methods. On the other hand, the usage of the Korean language to teach English and the intensive grammar classes are considered as unhelpful in English learning</em>. </p>
