Survival and Growth Parameters of Jayanti Rohu (Labeo rohita) Postlarvae

A six months trial was conducted to evaluate the dietary effect of Safed Musli root powder on Jayanti Rohu post larvae. The substantial losses of fish during the post-larval phase have been one of the bottlenecks in the Indian major carp (Labeo rohita). The Safed Musli different dietary levels like 0 g/kg in control diet (C), 0.25 g/kg in treatment Cb1 diet, 0.50 g/kg in treatment Cb2 diet, and 0.75 g/kg in treatment Cb3 diet. The Jayanti rohu brood stocks were fed with test diets @ 3% of body weight during experimental period. After six months feeding, Jayanti rohu brooders were performed breeding in different-different spawning pools. Then eight days old post larvae of Jayanti rohu were transferred into the 12 nursery ponds and 12 aquariums at the rate of 10 million spawn per hectare. Jayanti rohu spawn for feeding mixture of finely powdered groundnut oil cake and rice polish, in equal proportion by weight was supplied in both system nursery and aquarium. Starting on the day of stocking, feed can be broadcast all over the pond and, aquariums. The length weight was measured at initial and final time of experiment. The survival rate was measured at the final time of experiment. The maximum weight (3.63b±0.005) and length (6.49d±0.034) was found in treatment Cb2 in nursery pond system in compare to aquarium tanks. The maximum survival rate also found in treatment Cb2 (41.11d±0.12) in nursery ponds. Both systems showed significant relationships between treatment and control groups (p<0.05).

Impact of canal irrigation on agriculture in Halvad block of Gujarat using remote sensing and GIS technology

An investigation on canal irrigation performance assessment and monitoring of Halvad taluka in Surendranagar district of Gujarat, India using remote sensing and Geographic Information System (GIS) was carried during May, 2015 to July, 2015 at Bhaskaracharya Institute For Space Applications and Geo-Informatics (BISAG), Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The Area of Interest (AOI) covering Halvad Taluka was generated from the IRS LISSS-III digital data of 2006 and 2014 using the Halvad Taluka boundary. This data was analyzed using unsupervised and supervised classification techniques for area estimation under various land use classes like Agriculture, Wasteland, Fallow land, General Build-up, Water etc. The Global Positioning System (GPS) measurements were used to locate different-different places on raster image. Various classes spectral signature was generated for supervised classification. Using ERDAS Imagine software we have applied change detection techniques for analysing land-use and land-cover (LULC) change, urban change, etc. The results of supervised classification of IRS LISS-III digital data of 2006 and 2014 crop seasons indicated area under irrigated agricultures has increased during 2014 as compare to 2006. This is mainly because of reduction in area under waste lands and fallow lands. Due to increase in irrigation facilities area under different crops have increased. The result of this brings out the impact of irrigation on the agriculture in the Halvad Taluka.

Will Musculoskeletal Conditions of Shoulder Affect the Hand Function and Hand-Eye Coordination? A Cross-Sectional Analysis

Objective: To analyze the Hand Function (HF) and Hand-Eye Coordination (HEC) among subjects with shoulder conditions resulting in pain and disability. Methodology: In these cross-sectional 47 subjects with selected shoulder pathology between 30 to 60 years participated. Shoulder pathology was measured in terms of pain and disability using the SPADI scale. These values were correlated with Purdue pegboard and Balloon tossing task and Wall Ball Bounce task. Results: Spearman rank correlation analysis of SPADI pain component revealed that there was a negative correlation with HF (R= -0.596, p<0.001), but there was significant correlation with HEC1 (R= -0.260, p= 0.078) and HEC2 (R= -0.217, p= -0.144). Though there was no correlation a negative relationship was observed between the variables. In the correlation of SPADI disability component there was a perfect negative correlation with HF (R= -0.870, p<0.001), with HEC1 (R= -0.588, p<0.001) and HEC2 (R= -0.541, p<0.001). Conclusion: This study concludes that shoulder pain negatively influences the Hand Function, whereas the shoulder disability negatively influences both Hand Function and Hand-Eye Coordination. The therapist should consider assessing and treating HF and HEC in patients with shoulder pain and disability in the future.

Effect of Tillage Practices and Fertility Levels on Growth, Yield Attributes and Yield of Wheat in Rice- Wheat Cropping System

This study was conducted at Agronomy Research Farm, CSAUAT, during rabi 2021-22 and 2022-23. The experiment was laid out into Split plot design with3 replication. Two levels of tillage viz. (1) Conventional tillage Two ploughing followed by sowing), (2) Reduce tillage (one ploughing followed by sowing were randomly allotted to main plot while ten 10 fertility levels. Basis on the pooled data the results of the study revealed that in case of tillage practices among the growth parameters; maximum plant height at 30, 60, 90 DAT and at harvest is 26.25, 46.26, 87.43, and 92.38 cm respectively, number of leaves plant-1 at 30, 60, 90 DAT and at harvest is 5.47, 16.51, 19.34 and 20.18 respectively, leaf area index at 30, 60, 90 DAT and at harvest is 0.553, 3.13, 4.48 and 5.05 respectively, relative growth rate at 30, 60, 90 DAT is 24.33, 14.48 and 3.82 g day-1 respectively, among the yield attributing characters maximum ear length (11.07 cm) , number of grain ear-1 (41.08), grain weight ear-1 (1.54 g) and 1000 grain weight (36.93 g) and among the productivity parameters; maximum grain yield (51.31 q ha-1), straw yield (67.21 q ha-1), biological yield (118.52 q ha-1) and harvest index (43.22 %) were recorded under the conventional tillage. Similarly in case of fertility levels growth parameters, yield attributing characters and productivity parameters were associated with 125 % RDF + chloromequate chloride.

An Overview towards Botanicals from Medicinal Plants in Stored Insects

The use of synthetic chemical insecticides is not allowed or is used restrictively because of the problem of residues and the health risks of consumers. With this in mind, plants are needed that can provide potential alternatives to the currently used insecticides, as they are a rich source of bioactive molecules. Available literature indicates that the plant could be a source of new insecticides. Preventing food loss during post-harvest storage is of the utmost economic importance. Integrated pest management is now a widely accepted pest management strategy, including post-harvest pest management using chemical insecticides with disinfectants. Therefore, there is great potential for insecticidal compounds derived from plants. This article focuses on the current status of botanical insecticides as grain protectors and how they work. The control of this insect is highly dependent on the use of synthetic insecticides and disinfectants. But its widespread use has created serious problems. The increasing resistance of stored product insects to conventional synthetic pesticides, along with growing concerns over environmental and human health impacts, has spurred interest in alternative pest management strategies. Botanicals derived from medicinal plants have emerged as promising candidates due to their diverse bioactive properties and eco-friendly nature. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the current knowledge on the use of botanical extracts for controlling stored insects. It discusses the various modes of action, including repellency, toxicity, and growth inhibition, and highlights the most effective plant species and their phytochemical constituents.

Comparison of Balance Training Program

Balance is the ability to maintain upright posture while keeping the center of gravity within the base of support. Therefore This study was intended to see whether exercise program using elastic tubing as a perturbation force on improving balance in individuals with histroy of ankle sprain by comparing it with star excursion balance training. Result indicates both Group A and Group B showed marked improvement in all the outcomes. Group A showed significant improvement in balance than Group B. So we conclude that Exercises using elastic tubing as a perturbation force is an efficient method for improving balance in individual with CAI.
