The problems encountered when attempting to incorporate modern systems for inventory and materials management into a rapidly developing country are discussed. Specifically, the case of present‐day China is used as the focus of the study. After reviewing some historical background for the present situation, recommendations are provided for the gradual adoption of modern inventory practices in light of the limited capital and technology available for the transition.

Catastrophic damages to the ground structures can be caused by large ground deformation due to seismic liquefaction. Therefore liquefiable ground in earthquake must be improved. This paper analyzes the mechanism of large ground deformation and presents the related measures.

Construction technology of open diversion channel excavation of Xinglong Hydroproject on Hanjiang River

Influenced by the factors such as land requisition,removal and application for construction license,the construction period of open diversion channel excavation of Xinglong Hydroproject is compressed greatly.Whether the excavation can be completed on schedule directly affects the river closure of the project.Through scientific organization,meticulous construction and the use of various equipments,the open diversion channel excavation of 1 150×104m3 was completed within 6 months,with the maximum daily underwater excavation intensity of 11.5×104m3 and the maximum monthly underwater excavation intensity of 270.38×104m3.The on-schedule completion of open diversion channel with quality and quantity creates favorable conditions for the on-schedule completion of the river closure.We briefly introduce the construction methods,equipment and the experiences in construction organization and management.

Effect of the Starting NCO/OH Molar Ratio on the Structure and Properties of Polyurethane

The present study described the effect of the starting NCO/OH molar ratio on the structure and properties of castable polyurethanes based on polytetrahydrofuran glycol (PTMG) and 2,4- toluene diisocyanate (TDI). The structural was tested by SEM. The result showed that higher starting NCO/OH molar ratio can lead to higher degree of microphase separation, decrease the compression set and improve the dynamic mechanical properties.
