We have demonstrated the presence of a single-phase solid solution for the ${\mathrm{Bi}}_{2}{\mathrm{Sr}}_{3\ensuremath{-}x}{\mathrm{Ca}}_{x}{\mathrm{Cu}}_{2}{\mathrm{O}}_{8+\ensuremath{\delta}}$ superconductor, in the $1.25\ensuremath{\le}x\ensuremath{\le}2.0$ range. The lattice parameters and melting points vary monotonically with $x$, both increasing towards the Sr-rich composition. This monotonic variation of the lattice parameters extends into the $0.8\ensuremath{\le}x\ensuremath{\le}2.2$ range, but the material is multiphased outside the $1.25\ensuremath{\le}x\ensuremath{\le}2.0$ limit. Superconducting onsets in the ranges of 70-89 and 108-118 K have been obtained; however, the exact results are very sensitive to processing parameters. Magnetization measurements indicate high intragranular current densities (${J}_{c}$) at 5 K of \ensuremath{\sim}5\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}${10}^{6}$ A/${\mathrm{cm}}^{2}$. The actual transport ${J}_{c}$ is low (\ensuremath{\cong} 70 A/${\mathrm{cm}}^{2}$ at 4 K) and exhibits a strong field dependence similar to the behavior of the Y${\mathrm{Ba}}_{2}$${\mathrm{Cu}}_{3}$${\mathrm{O}}_{7}$ superconductor.
The Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment of the North-East Atlantic (OSPAR Convention) was opened for signature at the Ministerial Meeting of the former Oslo and Paris Commissions in Paris on 22 September 1992. This chapter deals about final phase of an oil and gas field development involving activities such as plugging of wells and removal of infrastructure. Rodriguez-Lucas (2012) traces the origins of decommissioning legislation within OSPAR. As required by OSPAR Decision 98/3 the OSPAR Secretariat maintains an inventory of decommissioned installations. In the United States attention has been given to addressing loss of ecosystem services using aging infrastructure to provide opportunities for restoring degraded ecosystems. For the North-East Atlantic, progress has been made to counter adverse environmental impacts of the oil and gas industry. The OSPAR Convention provides an appropriate legal framework for regional decommissioning. Keywords: North-East Atlantic; Oslo Commission; OSPAR Convention; Paris Commission
The ν=0, J=1,2 hyperfine spectra of hydrogen bromide have been measured with a molecular beam electric resonance spectrometer at electric fields of 1500–3500 V/cm. The hyperfine structure parameters were determined for H 79.81Br and D 79.81Br. The quadrupole interaction ratios are The distance derivative of the electric field gradient at the site of the bromine nucleus was determined to be d (q/qe)/d ([R−Re]/Re) =1.556(3). The magnetic octupole interaction of the bromine nucleus was negligible ‖ewΩ‖<0.5 Hz. The electric polarizability anisotropy was measured to be (α∥−α⊥) =0.37(9) Å3. The same technique was used for DCl with the result (α∥−α⊥) = 0.23(3) Å3. Numbers in parenthesis are uncertainties in the final figures.
Abstract This chapter describes the Stanley Brothers’ career from 1954–1958. These include their recordings for the Mercury label; the decline of the market for old-time country with the rise of rock and roll; and their performances at music parks and extended tour of the Northwest in later summer 1956.
The motivation and techniques used in destruction sequences in "Call of Duty: Ghosts." Combining fracture simulations, dense localized particle simulations, and pre-rendered smoke simulations for film-quality destruction in a real-time engine.
Of primary importance to the shell of a building is the mediation between the exterior and interior environment. Environmental conditions to be maintained within the building influence the design of the shell. The building shell should be a major part of the sustainable strategy. Walls and other surfaces on or around buildings respond to ambient temperature change, solar radiation, wetting and drying effects from precipitation, and varying cloud cover by either increasing or decreasing in volume and therefore in linear dimension. For residential buildings in cold climates, heat loss through the enclosure may be the largest component of total energy consumption. Buildings must be properly braced to resist racking under wind and seismic loads. Shop‐fabricated wood trusses have been used in building construction since 1953, when the metal connector plate was invented. The chapter examines common floor construction assemblies and common systems used in roof construction.
