Nonlinear numerical and experimental study on the second-order torsional and lateral vibration of driveline system connected by cardan joint

In this article, a nonlinear dynamic model with five degrees-of-freedom for a four-wheel-drive vehicle driveline connected by a cardan joint, including dynamic intersection angle, nonconstant velocity, and additional moment caused by the cardan joint, is established by using the Lagrange method to analyze the driveline coupling vibration in both torsional and lateral directions. High-order Runge–Kutta algorithm is applied to solve the differential equations and to calculate transient responses of the driveline rotors under acceleration condition. The color maps and second-order vibration of the driveline are acquired by frequency spectrum analysis and order tracking analysis, respectively. The second-order vibration and noise of the driveline and vehicle interior caused by the cardan joint is validated by vehicle experimental results and reduced effectively by decreasing intersection angle of the cardan joint under the operational condition. Moreover, application of a flexible coupling instead of the cardan joint significantly reduces the second-order vibration but simultaneously generates low-level third-order vibration.

Design of intelligent parking management system based on Kalman filter algorithm

With the acceleration of the urbanization process and the rapid economic development of the country, people's living standards have been greatly improved, in order to facilitate travel, most families in the city choose to buy cars, to achieve a higher quality of life. This is followed by a shortage of parking spaces, due to lax management or non-standard management of parking lots, resulting in many "parking difficulties". This not only leads to traffic congestion in the city, but also creates many safety hazards. Therefore, the system designs a smart parking management system based on Kalman filter algorithm, which can effectively solve the problems of parking and management. In turn, the potential of urban traffic can be effectively released, and the phenomenon of urban parking can be effectively rectified, the incidence of traffic accidents can be reduced, and the pressure of urban traffic management and personnel allocation can be reduced.

Static analysis and application of a new kind of shell bolting and shotcrete support

The shell bolting and shotcrete trestle used in the soft rock tunnels were analyzed. The static analysis was also accomplished. The result of the practical test of the new bracing shows that it can improve the bracing ability with less material. In a word, the shell bolting and shotcrete support are wellstructured,which can sustain great ground stress and can be constructed easily.

Investigation on Vibro-Impacts of Driveline System Based on a Nonlinear Clearance Element With Time-Varying Stiffness and Oil-Squeeze Damping

Abstract The transient vibro-impacts induced by clearance between the connected rotors in driveline system easily causes serious transient noise and vibration, especially between the gear teeth with backlash. To analyze the transient vibro-impacts of the driveline system excited by a step-down engine torque, a new piecewise nonlinear clearance element with time-varying stiffness and oil squeeze damping is proposed, and an eight degrees-of-freedom (DOF) lumped parameters model with the new piecewise nonlinear clearance elements is established. The transient vibro-impact phenomena of the vehicle driveline during fast disengagement of the clutch are numerically simulated. Colormaps of angular acceleration and vibro-impact force shows the difference of frequency components from transient impact to stable tooth-meshing. The phase plane reveals the phenomenon of multiple impacts and rebounds in each transient impact and shows the relationship between the relative contact displacement and velocity. The frequency responses of the angular velocity, angular acceleration, and vibro-impact forces with time-varying stiffness and linear stiffness are compared, respectively. Compared with the widely used clearance element with piecewise linear stiffness, the new nonlinear clearance element with the piecewise nonlinear time-varying stiffness can better reveal the transient vibro-impact responses between the driving and driven gears. Lastly, the transient vibro-impact results of driveline system are verified by the vehicle experiments.

The paper presents a dynamic model for automotive cushion-human body combined structure. The design is based on a nonlinear seat cushion model and a linear ISO human body model. This model can be used for the evaluation of the dynamic response of human body in a car. The transfer functions obtained from the tests validated the model, as the model showed the same trend as the results from the tests. It is also possible to evaluate the degree of the driving comfort from the response, especially from the transfer function.

A Study of the Relationship between Dipole Noise Sources and the Flow Field Parameters around the Rearview Mirror of Passenger Cars

When air flows through the mirrors, A-pillars, and other surfaces of a passenger car, airflow separation occurs to generate vorticity and generates aerodynamic noise. The dipole noise source is the main source of aerodynamic noise when the passenger car is travelling at high speed. In order to reveal the relationship between the physical quantities in the flow field and the intensity of the dipole noise source, this paper equates each dipole noise source to a sphere radiating noise to the outside. The acoustic wave fluctuation equations expressed as spherical coordinates are combined with the acoustic boundary conditions and the equations of motion of an ideal fluid medium to obtain the relationship between the intensity of the dipole noise source and the flow velocity and vorticity in the flow field. Then, through flow field simulation, we establish a method of identifying the dipole noise source and its distribution area, and analyze the generation mechanism of the dipole noise source. Through the analysis, it is concluded that the dipole noise sources are mainly concentrated in the airflow separation areas, which easily generate vortices. The size of the vorticity is the key factor affecting the intensity of the dipole noise source. When the intensity of the dipole noise source reaches its peak, the direction of the flow vorticity is perpendicular to the direction of the flow velocity and the peak of the flow velocity occurs before the peak of the dipole noise source, which indicates that the angle between the flow vorticity and the flow velocity, as well as the flow velocity, also has a certain effect on the generation of the dipole noise source.

Fatigue Analysis of Adhesive Joints Under Vibration Loading

Adhesively bonded joints have been used extensively for many structural applications. However, one disadvantage usually limiting the service life of adhesive joints is the relatively low strength for peel loading, especially under dynamic cyclic loading such as impulsive or vibrational forces. Moreover, accurately predicting the fatigue life of bonded joints is still quite challenging. In this study, a combined experimental–numerical approach was developed to characterize the effect of the cyclic-vibration-peel (CVP) loading on adhesively bonded joints. A damage factor is introduced into the traction-separation response of the cohesive zone model (CZM) and a finite element damage model is developed to evaluate the degradation process in the adhesive layer. With this model, the adhesive layer stress states before and after being exposed to various CVP loading cycles are investigated, which reveals that the fatigue effect of the CVP loading starts first in the regions close to the edges of the adhesive layer. A good correlation is achieved when comparing the simulation results to the experimental data, which verifies the feasibility of using the proposed model to predict the fatigue life of adhesively bonded joints under the CVP type of loading.
