Influence of Ball-milling on Sintered Body Density of Fine Tungsten Powder

The fine pure tungsten powder with a BET particle size of 0.14 μm was prepared by sol spray drying-calcination-hydrogen reduction process. The influences of ball-milling ways (dry-milling and wet-milling) on the tungsten powder morphology and powder formability were investigated. The changes of pure tungsten properties with sample size (small samples with a thickness of 2.5mm and big samples with a thickness of 2cm) were explored. In addition, the variation of microstructure and grain size with different ball milling way and sample size was studied in detail. Results show that both dry-milling and wet-milling have a great improvement in powder formability. The densities of dry-milling sintered bodies are obviously higher than that of wet-milling bodies. At the same time, the density distribution of dry-milling sintered bodies is more uniform in big samples. The wet-milling powder has a wider particle size distribution and a strong activation effect, thus the wet-milling powder sintered body has a coarser grain.

A comparison of multilayered coordination numbers in FCC and HCP crystals

Abstract A comparative study of multilayered coordination numbers between the face center cubic (FCC) and the hexagonal closest packing (HCP) was conducted. First, by the Diophantine equation models, we derived generating functions to calculate the multilayered coordination radii r k and coordination numbers N k for FCC and HCP, respectively. Calculated results for FCC and HCP were further compared, including their coordination radii, coordination numbers and mean coordination numbers. Finally, we strictly proved that the sequences { N k } for both FCC and HCP are unbounded, and for FCC, there is a subsequence N k n = 6 , while for HCP, there is a subsequence N k n = 2 .

Relaxation Functions Interpolating the Cole–Cole and Kohlrausch–Williams–Watts Dielectric Relaxation Models

To describe non-Debye relaxation phenomena observed in dielectric materials, the Cole–Cole (CC) relaxation model in the frequency domain and the Kohlrausch–Williams–Watts (KWW) relaxation model in the time domain were introduced in the physics of dielectrics. In this paper, we propose a new relaxation model with two parameters besides a relaxation time by expressing the relaxation function in the time domain in terms of the Mittag–Leffler functions. The proposed model represents a group of non-Debye relaxation phenomena and shows a transition between the CC and the KWW models. The relaxation properties described by the new model are analyzed, including the response function, the normalized complex dielectric permittivity, dielectric storage and loss factors as well as the relaxation frequency and time spectral functions. The presented relaxation function has a concise form and is expected to be applied to more complex relaxation phenomena.
