Nanozymes-Based Biosensors for Sustainable Food Engineering: Recent Research and Future Prospects

Since the beginning of human history, people are consuming processed foods. Natural enzymes serve as important strong biocatalysts in the food processing industry, but they are limited by limitations such as exorbitant prices, unstable topologies, high susceptibility to external circumstances, low maintainability, etc. Natural enzymes are replaced with nanozymes, which are composed of nanomaterials and can catalyze biological processes. Nanozymes are more stable, cheaper, simpler to modify, and more efficient. Nanozymes exhibit excellent strength, are cost-effective, are faster and more reliable, and are intrinsically more productive. The nanozymes' enzyme mimicking strategies emit chromogenic signals that can be used to create inexpensive and simple biosensors. Nanozyme-based biosensors can detect hazardous toxins in food, including metals and pesticide residues, as well as biological pollutants like pathogens and biotoxins, and help prepare safe food. The current chapter details the evolution of nanozymes and some recent advancement in nanozymes-based biosensing, particularly in the detection of food toxins. The chapter also highlights the challenges and prospects of nanozymes to expand the frontiers in the food industry.

EUV resist outgassing: scaling to HVM intensity

Typical extreme ultraviolet (EUV) photoresist is known to outgas carbon-containing molecules, which is of particular concern to the industry as these molecules tend to contaminate optics and diminish reflectivity. This prompted extensive work to measure these species and the quantities that they outgas in a vacuum environment. Experiments were performed to test whether the outgassing rate of these carbon-containing molecules is directly proportional to the rate at which the EUV photons arrive and whether a very high power exposure will cause the same amount of outgassing as a much lower power exposure with the dose unchanged.

Immunohistochemistry: sole tool in diagnosing a rare case of primary vaginal amelanotic melanoma

We report a rare case of vaginal amelanotic melanoma. Malignant melanomas are cutaneous and extracutaneous tumors that arise from embryological remnants of neural crest cells/melanocytes. Amelanotic melanomas at such rare locations can be misdiagnosed both clinically and radiologically. Therefore, histopathological examination and immunohistochemistry are mandatory for the diagnosis of these tumors. We diagnosed this case using histopathology and confirmed the diagnosis based on the presence of immunohistochemical markers human melanoma black 45 (HMB45) and S-100. Late complications of radiation therapy for breast cancer: evolution in techniques and risk over time

Abstract: Radiation therapy in combination with surgery, chemotherapy, and endocrine therapy as indicated, has led to excellent local and distant control of early stage breast cancers. With the majority of these patients surviving long term, mitigating the probability and severity of late toxicities is vital. Radiation to the breast, with or without additional fields for nodal coverage, has the potential to negatively impact long term cosmetic outcome of the treated breast as well as cause rare, but severe, complications due to incidental dosage to the heart, lungs and contralateral breast. The long-term clinical side-effects of breast radiation have been studied extensively. This review aims to discuss the risk of developing late complications following breast radiation and how modern techniques can be used to diminish these risks.

Exploration of caregiver experience for children with ASD: an in-depth perspective

Purpose This study aims to examine the psycho-emotional and social experiences of caregivers of children with autism spectrum disorder. Various facets of the caregiving experience are explored, including the feelings and thoughts of the parents/caregivers, such as the resilience experienced in their journey, how they coped with the challenges and also their positive experiences. Design/methodology/approach In this study, these aspects of the caregiving experience are broadly probed using semi-structured interviews subjected to narrative analysis. Lastly, there is a focus on the role of therapist-led intervention, specifically, the Eye to I © intervention model and its contributions to the parent/caregiver experience. Findings Findings from this study indicate that parents benefit from interventions that bridge gaps in skills and interpersonal communication which parents/caregivers feel they encounter in their day-to-day activities. Additionally, support groups for parents and caregivers could further address these issues. Originality/value This exploration reveals insights about the roles of societal structures and the caregiving journey.

Proximity printing using extreme ultraviolet radiation

With the commercialization of extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography underway, there is considerable effort underway to improve EUV photoresists, so that they can meet the ITRS 2006 update requirements for resolution, line edge roughness and sensitivity. Nevertheless, the present limited availability of EUV exposure tools, and the high cost of such tools, has hampered the resist development effort. We have developed a simple, low-cost, technique to characterize different photoresist formulations for printing sub-100-nm features using EUV radiation. In the method presented here, a transmission mask is placed in close proximity to the resist sample and the resist is exposed through the mask. The mask used for this technique is a silicon nitride membrane with 50 nm gold layer which is patterned using a focused ion beam tool. The source for EUV light is a xenon based discharge plasma source from Energetiq. After developing, the resist images are measured in a scanning electron microscope to determine the feature size. Here we present results demonstrating sub-100 nm feature size using this method.

Unusual clinical presentation of spinal echinococcal cyst imitating a malignant tumour.

Spinal echinococcal cyst is very uncommon and may have variable clinical presentations. We describe an exceptional case of intradural and extramedullary spinal echinococcal cyst, misguided as a spinal tumour on radiological examination and was diagnosed as echinococcal cyst on fine needle aspiration biopsy smears and subsequently on histopathological examination.
