Heavy quark damping rate in hot viscous QCD plasma

We derive an expression for the heavy quark damping rate in hot quark gluon plasma in the presence of flow. Here all the bath particles are out of equilibrium due to the existence of nonzero velocity gradient. The magnetic sector shows similar infrared divergences even after hard thermal loop corrections as one encounters in the case of nonviscous plasma. We estimate the first order correction in ($\ensuremath{\eta}/s$) for heavy quark damping rate due to the nonzero viscosity of the QCD plasma.

phi production at RHIC: characterization of co-existence phase

We extract the effective degrees of freedom that characterize the co-existing phase of quark gluon plasma and hadrons. Experimental data on phi at mid-rapidity is used to set a lower bound to the critical temperature of quark hadron phase transition. The production and evolution of strangeness have been studied by using Boltzmann equation. The results have been contrasted with the experimental data obtained by STAR collaboration at RHIC for Au + Au collisions at sqrt{s_{NN}}=200 GeV. Our study reveals that the phi mesons freeze out at a temperature ~ 160 MeV, a value close to the transition temperature for quark-hadron phase transition.

Matter-induced charge symmetry breaking and the pion form factor in nuclear medium

Medium modification of the pion form factor has been evaluated in asymmetric nuclear matter (ANM). It is shown that both the shape and the pole position of the pion form factor in dense asymmetric nuclear matter is different from its vacuum counterpart with ρ–ω mixing. This is due to the density and asymmetry-dependent ρ–ω mixing which could even dominate over its vacuum counterpart in matter. Results are presented for an arbitrarily mixing angle. The effect of the in-medium pion factor on experimental observables, e.g., invariant mass distribution of lepton pairs has been demonstrated.

Non-Fermi liquid behavior of the drag and diffusion coefficients in QED plasma

We calculate the drag and diffusion coefficients in low temperature QED plasma and go beyond the leading order approximation. The non-Fermi-liquid behavior of these coefficients are clearly revealed. We observe that the subleading contributions due to the exchange of soft transverse photon in both cases are larger than the leading order terms coming from the longitudinal sector. The results are presented in closed form at zero and low temperature.

Energy loss due to field fluctuations in a two-stream QCD plasma

We derive the expression for the collisional energy loss in two stream plasma induced by the fluctuating chromoelectric field. It is revealed that the main contribution here comes from the unstable modes which grow exponentially with time. A strong direction dependence of the energy loss has also been demonstrated.

The partonic energy loss has been calculated taking both the hard and soft contributions for all the $2 \to 2$ processes, revealing the importance of the individual channels. Cancellation of the intermediate separation scale has been exhibited. Subtleties related to the identical final state partons have properly been taken into account. The estimated collisional loss is compared with its radiative counter part. We show that there exists a critical energy ($E_c$) below which the collisional loss is more than its radiative counterpart. In addition, we present closed form formulas for both the collision probabilities and the stopping power ($dE/dx$)
