With development of electrical power system, the DC distribution system has been considered as a promising technology to be used in the future smart distribution system. Among the various components comprising the DC distribution system, the bi-directional DC/DC converter is one of the most important equipment to interconnect between main power system and various renewable resources such as photovoltaic power generation, wind power generation, and electrical vehicles. In this paper, a bi-directional DC/DC converter based on three-phases interleaved method which is effective to reduce ripple of input current and output voltage is modeled using ElectroMagnetic Transient Program(EMTP), and the verification of modeled bi-directional DC/DC converter is conducted.
IEC is an international standards which are used in many countries with Europe as the center. IEC standard is introduced in Korea according to WTO/TBT agreements, however until now there are no buildings in Korea which are designed applying IEC standard. Therefore, KEA(Korea Electric Association) is scheduled to construct Korean low voltage electrical installation integration test site which is designed applying IEC standard. In this paper, before being under construction of Korean low voltage electrical installation integration test site, power substation is modeled based on real design parameters and method to select circuit breakers and cables is presented applying IEC standard in the modeled power substation. EMTP(ElctroMagnetic Transient Program) is used for simulation program. EMTP which is power system analysis program is easy to model power system and power substation.
In this paper, we evaluate safety of grounding system which is designed according to IEC standards. Safety assessment of grounding system is needed before construction for the safety of human. Until now, in case of domestic field, design of grounding system is proceeded based on methods which are proposed in IEEE standards. We measure ground resistance of construction site using measuring equipment of ground resistance. Using this value, soil structure and ground resistivity are obtained through program analysis.
It is important to clear the fault and prevent resulting in damage to power system. Although the frequency of generator internal fault is relatively low, it can lead to incalculable damage to power system as well as generator. Especially, loss of field on generator can cause the generator to lose synchronism for a short time if it is not removed promptly. Therefore, it is needed to conduct research on loss of field relay for detecting or clearing the loss of field. However, the setting of the relay may vary in generator operator or engineer, and the relay is not coordinated well with other elements associated with loss of field. In this paper, we address specifically the coordination of positive offset mho loss of field relay which is one of the protection schemes for loss of field. Computer simulations are performed by using ElectroMagnetic Transients Program-Restructured Version (EMTP-RV) based on actual data.
