Nephrotic syndrome is a manifestation of kidney disease involving the glomeruli, characterized by oedema, proteinuria, hyperlipidemia and low serum albumin. It may be caused by primary kidney disease such as focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, and mutations in the podocin gene (shown in familial and sporadic forms of steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome). A study by Michael B. Rothenberg and Walter Heymann M. showed 5-year survey of the incidence of the nephrotic syndrome in children in the state of Ohio, in which there were 0.5 new cases per year per 100,000 total populations and 2.3 new cases per year per 100,000 children aged 0 to 9 years with a total population of 8,000,000. Recent prospective studies revealed an incidence of 1.15 to 2.1/100,000 children/year. We presented a case of nephrotic syndrome treated with Unani formulation “Jawarish Zarooni” along with Sharbat Buzoori. Patient responded well and got complete relief with the formulation. Non-healing ulcer is one of the major health issues in and around the globe. It affects the quality of life, decreases work efficiency, causes loss in confidence, restricts mobility, causes anxiety, depression and isolation from society. Non-healing ulcers (Qurooh-e-Aseeerat-ul-Indamaal) are those ulcers which fail to heal by conservative treatment within 6 weeks. Its reported prevalence in India in the year 2004 was 4.8 per 1000 population. About 1% of total western population suffers from it. The incidence seems to rise many folds in aged people and the people with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, arterial and venous diseases. Because of common prevalence and non-availability of affordable treatment, non-healing ulcer can be efficiently treated with the drugs having mujaffif, khatim, daaf-e-taaffun and mundammil-e-qurooh actions. In the present study, we treated a patient with clinical diagnosis of non-healing ulcer with local application of Unani formulation “Zaroor-e-Aelwa” with an objective to assess its efficacy for healing of non-healing ulcer. Size of wound reduced greatly with this formulation. It was concluded that Unani formulation “Zaroor-e-Aelwa” is effective in the treatment of non-healing ulcer and can be used as an alternative to the conventional treatment of non-healing ulcer.
