Direct Phosphination of Ferrocenium Ion with Tertiary Phosphines by the Mechanism of Oxidative Nucleophilic Substitution

Ferrocenium salts [(C 5 H 5 ) 2 Fe]X (X = BF 4 , PF 6 ) ( I + · ) react with tertiary phosphines PR 3 (PMe 3 , PEt 3 , P n Bu 3 , PMe 2 Ph, and PMePh 2 ) in dichloromethane at room temperature to form a mixture of the corresponding ferrocenylphosphonium salts [(C 5 H 5 )FeC 5 H 4 PR 3 ]X ( III ), ferrocene ( I ), and phosphonium salts [HPR 3 ]X. The same reaction was carried out in an electrochemical cell as the electrolysis of a solution of ferrocene and phosphine in dichloromethane at the oxidation potential of ferrocene. Possible reaction pathways for phosphination of ferrocenium ion were studied by DFT at the M06‐L/6‐311++G(d,p) theory level. The experimental and theoretical studies of this reaction suggest it to proceed according to the Scheme of oxidative nucleophilic substitution of hydrogen in I + · including the following steps: a) nucleophilic exo addition of a phosphine to the cyclopentadienyl ring of I + · to form the radical cation adduct [(η 5 ‐C 5 H 5 )Fe · (η 4 ‐C 5 H 5 – + PR 3 )]X ( II +· ); b) redox reaction of the initial adduct II +· with the starting ferrocenium salt I + · to result in ferrocene (C 5 H 5 ) 2 Fe ( I ) and iron phosphoniocyclopentadiene dication [(η 5 ‐C 5 H 5 )Fe + (η 4 ‐C 5 H 5 – + PR 3 )](X) 2 ( II 2+ ) where the C sp3 –H bond is involved in the agostic interaction with the metal atom; and c) deprotonation of the C sp3 –H bond in II 2+ by the starting phosphine to form III . The relation between the data obtained and current concepts of C–H functionalization in transition metal arene and cyclopentadienyl complexes is discussed.

The extraction of lanthanides(III) from nitric acid solutions in the systems involving novel functionalized ionic liquids based on cationic carbamoyl(methyl)phosphine oxide (CMPO) derivatives and dinonylnaphthalenesulfonate anions in molecular diluents was studied. The stoichiometry of the Ln(III) extracted species was determined using slope analysis. The influence of the concentration of HNO3 in the aqueous phase and the nature of organic diluents on the metal ion extraction efficiency into the organic phase was considered. Functionalized ionic liquids 1-[3-[[(diphenylphosphinyl)acetyl]amino]propyl]-1H-imidazol-1-ium dinonylnaphthalenesulfonate (L1HA) and 1-[2-[[(diphenylphosphinyl)acetyl]amino]ethyl]-pyridin-2-ium dinonylnaphthalenesulfonate (L2HA) demonstrate higher extraction ability towards Ln(III) than their neutral CMPO analog, diphenylphosphorylacetic acid N-nonylamide (L).

Abstract 2-Aryloxy(or alkylthio)-Z-thio-l,3,2-oxazaphosphorinanes (I) possess a high nematocidic activity, as well as synergistic activity towards pyre-tluoid insecticides, being low toxic to mammals LD50 1000–3000 mg/kg, mice). In order to do these compounds more accessible a simple method of synthesis under the phase transfer conditions, using solid K2CO3 with 3 or 16 % of water and TEBA in CH2Cl2 or MeCN (yields up to 80 %) was elaborated according to the scheme:

New Approach toward Dual-Emissive Organic–Inorganic Hybrids by Integrating Mn(II) and Cu(I) Emission Centers in Ionic Crystals

Inorganic-organic hybrid luminescent materials have received great attention for their potential applications in a wide range of clean/renewable energy-related areas, including photovoltaics and solid-state lighting. Herein, we present a unique and general "Mn + Cu" approach by blending two earth-abundant luminogenic metals, manganese and copper, within a single ionic structure to construct a remarkable family of low-cost and multifunctional hybrid materials featuring dual emission, as well as triboluminescence and second-harmonic generation response. The novel hybrid materials are made of diphosphine dioxide-chelated [Mn(O∧O)3]2+ cations and various anionic [CuxIy](y-x)- clusters, ensuring manifestation of dual phosphorescence streamed from octahedral Mn2+ ions (605-648 nm) and iodocuprate anions (480-728 nm). Noteworthily, the relative ratio of the emission bands, and hence a resulting emission chromaticity, can be tuned in a wide range through modification of cluster [CuxIy](y-x)- modules. The structural diversity, enhanced robustness, and up to 100% luminescence quantum yield make the designed materials promising phosphors for lighting and sensing applications.
