Abstract Characteristics of zeolite formation, such as being kinetically slow and thermodynamically metastable, are the main bottlenecks that obstruct a fast zeolite synthesis. We present an ultrafast route, the first of its kind, to synthesize high‐silica zeolite SSZ‐13 in 10 min, instead of the several days usually required. Fast heating in a tubular reactor helps avoid thermal lag, and the synergistic effect of addition of a SSZ‐13 seed, choice of the proper aluminum source, and employment of high temperature prompted the crystallization. Thanks to the ultra‐short period of synthesis, we established a continuous‐flow preparation of SSZ‐13. The fast‐synthesized SSZ‐13, after copper‐ion exchange, exhibits outstanding performance in the ammonia selective catalytic reduction (NH 3 ‐SCR) of nitrogen oxides (NO x ), showing it to be a superior catalyst for NO x removal. Our results indicate that the formation of high‐silica zeolites can be extremely fast if bottlenecks are effectively widened.

Poverty may inhibit patients from receiving dignified end-of-life care; however, using social welfare services may reduce its impact on patients' end-of-life experiences. Nevertheless, no study has investigated which social welfare service could lead to favorable end-of-life experiences for patients living in poverty.

The objective of the present study was to evaluate the risk factors and outcomes associated with hyponatremia in patients with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). We retrospectively studied 80 consecutive patients with GBS who visited our hospital and compared clinical, laboratory, and electrophysiological findings of patients with and without hyponatremia. Disability was evaluated using the Hughes grading system. Of the 80 patients, 18 (23%) had hyponatremia. Hyponatremia was significantly associated with older age (P = 0.003), urinary retention (P < 0.0001), Hughes grade ≥ 4 at admission and nadir (P = 0.003 and P < 0.001, respectively), acute inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy subtype (P = 0.017), sepsis (P = 0.001), mechanical ventilator support (P = 0.013), longer hospitalization length of stay (P < 0.0001), and inability to walk independently at 6 months (P < 0.001). Multivariate analysis performed to assess the risk factors of hyponatremia revealed that urinary retention (odds ratio [OR] 30.7, 95% confidence interval [CI] 3.6–264.4; P = 0.002) and mechanical ventilator support (OR 13.8, 95% CI 1.6–118.0; P = 0.017) were significant independent risk factors of hyponatremia. In assessing the outcomes of patients with hyponatremia, multivariate analysis showed that hyponatremia was independently associated with hospitalization length of stay ≥ 60 days and inability to walk independently at 6 month, with the former showing statistical significance but the latter not (OR 9.3, 95% CI 1.8–47.7; P = 0.007 and OR 4.9, 95% CI 0.9–26.3; P = 0.066, respectively). Therefore, we demonstrate that, along with mechanical ventilator support, urinary retention—possibly indicating autonomic dysfunction—is a risk factor of hyponatremia in GBS. Moreover, we confirm that hyponatremia is associated with poor outcome in GBS.
Abstract Background: To establish refined risk prediction models for mortality in patients with microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) by using comprehensive clinical characteristics. Methods: Data from the multicentre Japanese Registry of Patients with Vasculitis (REVEAL cohort) were used in our analysis. In total, 194 patients with newly diagnosed MPA were included, and baseline demographic, clinical, laboratory, and treatment details were collected. Univariate and multivariate analyses were conducted to identify the significant risk factors predictive of mortality. Results: Over a median follow-up of 202.5 (84–352) weeks, 60 (30.9%) of 194 patients died. The causes of death included MPA-related vasculitis (18.3%), infection (50.0%), and other (31.7%). Deceased patients were older (median age 76.2 years) than survivors (72.3 years) ( P < 0.0001). The death group had shorter observation periods (median 128.5 [35.3–248] weeks) than the survivor group (229 [112–392] weeks). Compared to survivors, the death group exhibited a higher smoking index, lower serum albumin levels, higher serum C-reactive protein levels, higher Birmingham Vasculitis Activity Score (BVAS), higher Five-Factor Score, and a more severe European Vasculitis Study Group (EUVAS) categorization system. Multivariate analysis revealed that higher BVAS and severe EUVAS independently predicted mortality. Kaplan–Meier survival curves demonstrated lower survival rates for BVAS ≥20 and severe EUVAS, and a risk prediction model (RPM) based on these stratified patients into low, moderate, and high-risk mortality groups. Conclusions: The developed RPM is promising to predict mortality in patients with MPA, and provides clinicians with a valuable tool for risk assessment and informed clinical decision-making.
