Objective To investigate the relationship between Survivin gene expression and chemosensitivity of cisplation in liver cancer. Methods Survivin expression was detected with immunohistochemistry in liver cancer. The primary cultured liver cancer cells were treated with cisplation(DDP) and the cellular viability was calculated. Results The survivin over-expressed in liver cancer with the positive rate of 66.7%(14/21) was higher than that in liver tissues with the rate of 9.5%(2/21).The survival rate of cancer cells in survivin-positive group was 47.6% in average, being higher obviously than 22.5% in survivin-negative group when the primary cultured cancer cells were treated with 1.0 mg/L DDP,MMT was detected 24 hours later. There was a difference between the survivin-positive group and survivin-negative group(P=0.0014).Conclusion The liver cancer over-expressed survivin is related to the decrease of cancer cell chemosensitivity. There is definite tol-erance to DDP in cancer cells with positive survivin expression. The detection of survivin may be an impor-tant marker to predict the chemosensitivity of liver cancer.
