A theory of parameter-dependent connected components of gray images and segmentation

A new definition of the connected components of gray images which depends on two parameters /spl epsiv/ and /spl delta/ is introduced. The definition takes into account both the gray values of the pixels and the differences of the gray values of the neighboring pixels. An algorithm to partition an image into its (/spl epsiv/,/spl delta/)-components and several experimental results are given. A practical advantage of the definition is that a segmentation of an image can be done by finding its (/spl epsiv/,/spl delta/)-components for some appropriate values of /spl epsiv/, /spl delta/. Also, we may study an image globally through the interrelationships of the (/spl epsiv/,/spl delta/)-components rather than that of the pixels. Thus our theory provides a possible method of transition from low level computer vision to an intermediate level vision.

System Level PTS-Based AV Synchronization Strategies for Playback Chains Spanning Multiple Processor Cores

Current embedded audio-video (AV) playback systems often require more computing power than can be provided by a single DSP or media processor. In such situations, the AV decoding and effects-processing operations of a single playback chain can be split over multiple processing cores. The current paper explores the implications of PTS-based AV synchronization in this scenario, and presents a set of system-level design patterns that can be used to solve the associated multimedia presentation problems

A comparative study between seasonal wind speed by Fourier and Wavelet analysis

Wind Energy is a useful resource for Renewable energy purpose. Wind speed plays a vital role for wind energy calculation of certain location. So, it is very much necessary to know the wind speed data characteristics. In this paper fourier and wavelet transform are applied to study the wind speed data. We have compared wind speed of winter with summer by taking their speed into account using various discrete wavelets namely Haar and Daubechies-4 (Db-4). Also the periodicity of wind speed is checked using Continuous Wavelet Transform (MCWT) like Morlet. Thereafter a comparative study is done for detecting the periodicity of both summer and winter. Then wavelet coherence is checked between these two data for extracting the phase coherency information.

Image Retrieval-Based Decision Support System for Dermatoscopic Images

This paper presents a content-based image retrieval system for dermatoscopic images as a diagnostic aid to the dermatologists for skin cancer recognition. In this context, the ultimate aim is to support decision making by locating, retrieving and displaying relevant past cases along with diagnostic reports. However, most challenging aspect in this domain is to extract local lesion specific image features and define the relevance between query and database images for retrieval. A fast and automatic segmentation method to detect the lesion from background healthy skin is proposed. This method first transforms a color image into an intensity image by utilizing domain specific image properties and NBS color distance in HVC color space. Lesion mask is detected by fusing individually segmented images based on iterative thresholding. Lesion specific local color and texture features are extracted and represented in the form of mean and variance-covariance of color channels and in a reduced PCA sub-space. Finally, for effective image retrieval, a similarity matching function is defined based on the fusion of a Bhattacharyya and Euclidean distance metric. The performance of the retrieval system is evaluated using average precision on a collection of 358 images, which demonstrates effectiveness of the proposed approach

INVARIANT PATTERN RECOGNITION USING RIDGELET PACKETS AND THE FOURIER TRANSFORM

In this paper, we propose two novel invariant algorithms for pattern recognition by using ridgelet packets and the Fourier transform. Ridgelet packets provide many orthonormal bases that can effectively capture directional features present in pattern images. The Fourier transform is good at eliminating the orientation differences. By combining these two tools, very efficient rotation invariant pattern recognition techniques are created. Experimental results show that the proposed methods achieve very high classification rates and they outperform other state-of-the-art methods for rotation invariant pattern recognition under both noise-free and noisy environments.

Application of Vertex coloring in a particular triangular closed path structure and in Krafts inequality

A good deal of research has been done and published on coloring of the vertices of graphs for several years while studying of the excellent work of those maestros, we get inspire to work on the vertex coloring of graphs in case of a particular triangular closed path structure what we achieve from the front view of a pyramidal structure. From here we achieve a repetitive nature of vertex coloring in case of odd and even number of horizontal lines within this triangular structure. In order to apply this repetitive nature of vertex coloring in case of a binary tree, we get a success in Krafts Inequality. Actually our work mainly deals with a particular triangular closed path vertex coloring and repetition of the vertex coloring nature in case of the Krafts inequality in the field of Information Theory and Coding.
