Design a low latency arbiter for on chip communication architecture

This paper presents a modified dynamic bus arbiter architecture for a system on chip design. A high performance SoC communication architecture based on probability bus distribution algorithm where all masters request are having same priority. However, the arbitration plays a critical role in determining performance of bus distribution based system. When all masters generate the request to access the bus at the same time, arbiter manages the situation using information about previously granted master, priority scheme and existing lottery arbitration scheme. This method solves the problem of granting the same master for more than one consecutive cycle. This method also solves the problem of deciding which master to grant when pseudo random number is greater than total partial sum by employing a priority selection method and information about previous granted master. The modified lottery arbitration scheme based communication architecture removes bus starvation and contention problem. This architecture provides a significant reduction in latencies (up to 78.75%) compared to probability based dynamically configured round robin arbiter scheme. The architecture is modeled in Verilog HDL and some of simulation results are presented.

A Fuzzy Controller Design for an Autonomous Bicycle System

An intelligent controller is developed for stabilizing an autonomous bicycle system. The autonomous bicycle is stabilized by controlling its lean alone. The controller is developed using fuzzy logic approach wherein the rule set is designed using the inherent-characteristic relationship of lean and steer present in a bicycle. The Newtonian mechanics based bicycle model along with the controller is simulated in MATLAB. The controller is simulated to actuate at constant time intervals and the simulation results confirm that the controller effort successfully stabilizes the bicycle in unstable velocity regions.

Design and Implementation of Embedded Speed Controller on ARM for Micromanufacturing Applications

A robust and high precision control system has been designed in MATLAB for a prototype DC motor system running at high rpm with uncertainty in plant parameters and in the presence of plant disturbances and measurement errors. The controllers have been designed using variety of approaches PID, LQG, and LSDP. Each of these design in MATLAB meet rise time, settling time and peak percent overshoot as [0.0765 s, 0.403s, 11%], [0.019s, 0.0877s, 13.2%,], [0.153s, 0.637s, 9.36%], [0.153s, 0.632s, 9.36%] for PID, LQG, LSDP-I & II respectively. Simulation designs have been further hand tuned to get better results to achieve the required specifications. The digital implementation have been done on MCB2300 KEIL boards on ARM7 (32-bit) microcontroller using difference equation methods and controller performances have been evaluated.

Design and Development of Embedded System on ARM for On-Line Characterization of DC Motor

An on-line characterization system has been developed for DC motors working in Micromanufacturing applications. These sensitive applications require high precision and high speed of response. The system has been programmed on ARM microcontroller, it actuates DC motor and automatically collects data while it is being accelerated and attains a steady speed ; the embedded routines process it instantly and returns the current values of inertia, friction coefficient, back-emf constant and torque constant. A prototype system for DC motor control has been developed in laboratory, it has been characterized and control experiments have been performed. when such Micromanufacturing applications progress in real-time, any change in the motor parameters, consequently in transfer function, can be found and utilized for better performance.

ARM Based Automatic Control System of Nano Positioning Stage for Micromanufacturing

A microcontroller based control system to drive the Physik Instrumente (PI ) piezoelectric ultrasonic nano-positioning (PUN) stage for a micro-factory has been proposed by the author.The tuning parameters of the PI Line Controller are chosen such that the PUN stage shows optimum step response.The microcontroller i.e.LPC2478R provides the user with the choices of operations on the 3.2" QVGA LCD screen and the choice can be made by a 5-key joystick.The PUN stage moves in different geometrical patterns as chosen by the user.The stage is placed in the workspace of the Clark-MXRR,Inc.CPA-2101 femto-second laser.Different patterns are made on the material in question.As compared to the previous works in this area, the user is given the power for position control, real time tracking, and trajectory planning of the actuator.The user interface has been made very easy to comprehend.The repeatability of tasks, portability of the as-sembly, the reduction in the size of the system , power consumption and the human involvement are the major achievements after the inclusion of a microcontroller.

Classification of rice leaf diseases based on the deep convolutional neural network architectures: Review

Timely analysis and recognition of leaf diseases in plants ensures good quality and productivity of crops in the field of agriculture. Recognition of rice leaf diseases is one of the biggest challenges for the farmers due to incomplete awareness regarding latest sophisticated techniques in the field of leaf disease identification. Much of the growth of rice is disturbed due to the prevalence of rice leaf diseases. Earlier detection of rice leaf diseases done manually by farmers which is very laborious and time consuming. However, requisite of automatic identification of rice leaf diseases helps farmers to save their agricultural crops more efficiently. Innovations in the field of computer vision and deep learning meets the expectations and proves to be the best solution for classification of rice leaf diseases using convolutional neural networks using samples of rice leaf diseases. In this review paper, the major focus is on performance analysis of detection of rice leaf diseases based on the architectures employed.

Object Detection in Remote Sensing Images: A Review

In this paper, we address the problem of pre- segmentation for object detection and statistics in remote sensing image processing. It plays an important role in reducing computational burden and increasing efficiency for further image processing and analysis. We follow the paradigm of object detection by Active Contour Method, then imposes structural constraints for the detection of the entire object. We have analyzed the performance of the proposed scheme comprehensively and specifically using some measured data, and carried out comparisons of the existing algorithms. The results show that the proposed scheme could improve the application ability in target detection.
