Internet has become an integral part of our life and the data service is available at our fingertips. This led to a paradigm shift in the way the various infrastructures connect to Internet. There is a requirement of a high speed, reliable, robust, cost effective and seamless connectivity. This led to the motivation for development of new technology related to networking that is robust, reliable and adaptable to the data service needs of the current time. Software Defined Networking (SDN) is one such possibility that may change the networking in the near future. SDN decouples the control plane from data plane, where control plane is migrated to a centralized resource known as SDN controller. This results in possibilities of the controller get compromised to various attacks. This led to a requirement of protecting the controllers. This can be achieved in a number of ways. In this research article the authors propose a multi-controller-based system along-with Backup and Restoration System (BRS). The High-Available (HA) controller system arranged in master-slave configuration in the prosed work which will protect the entire system from possible failures and also to avoid threats to the controller.

Constant aspect ratio based (2, 2) visual cryptography through meaningful shares (CARVCMS)

In this paper an efficient (2, 2) secret sharing scheme has been proposed where the generated shares are meaningful and the aspect ratio and image dimension of the shares remain constant with respect to the source image. In the CARVCMS, instead of generating new pixels for shares, the shares are generated by random inversion of the levels of the pixel values. The scheme is more secured and very easy to implement like other existing techniques of visual cryptography. At the receiving end, the secret is revealed directly through human visual system by stacking the shares in arbitrary order with proper alignment. To expound the efficiency of the proposed technique, the results are compared with the technique developed by Naor and Shamir (1995), Hegde et al. (2008) and Jena and Jena (2009) where it has been shown that CARVCMS gives better performance.

A Novel Technique for Secret Message / Image Transmission through (2, 2)Visual Cryptographic Protocol (SMITVCP)

In this paper a secret message/image transmission technique has been proposed through (2, 2) visual cryptographic share which is non-interpretable in general. A binary image is taken as cover image and authenticating message/image has been fabricated into it through a hash function where two bits in each pixel within four bits from LSB of the pixel is embedded and as a result it converts the binary image to gray scale one. (2,2) visual cryptographic shares are generated from this converted gray scale image. During decoding shares are combined to regenerate the authenticated image from where the secret message/image is obtained through the same hash function along with reduction of noise. Noise reduction is also done on regenerated authenticated image to regenerate original cover image at destination.

Mitigating selfish, blackhole and wormhole attacks in DTN in a secure, cooperative way

In this work, security threats posed by selfish, blackhole and wormhole attacks in a delay tolerant network (DTN) are addressed. A cooperative approach has been proposed as a solution where malicious behaviour of a node is tested whenever another node tries to send a message to it. Performance parameters, like received and sent messages to neighbouring nodes have been used along with calculated faith values (CFV) to derive latest CFVs. The process is repeated for each communication instance. In addition, a simple yet efficient credibility-based cryptographic encryption technique is applied to encrypt message contents that works by appending the signatures and CFV values of each encountered nodes. The method has been tested, by implementing it over the spray and wait DTN protocol, in the ONE simulator. The proposed strategy is able to avoid the three types of malicious nodes effectively and increases the trustworthiness of communication process greatly.

A Novel Selective Scale Space based Fuzzy C-means Model for Spatial Clustering

This paper proposed a novel Scale Space Filter based Fuzzy C-Means algorithm for clustering spatial data. The number of clusters, C, in present case is known in advance. The Scale Space filter is used for better separability of the data which are not linearly separable and in the present paper the same is used to selective parameters for betterment to meet the complexity-accuracy tradeoff. The Xie-Beni validity index is used as Objective Function of the model to check the quality of the clusters produced. The Results are tested on Standard iris data. The analysis and comparative study with existing algorithms has also been drawn.

The interest in this research area has experienced a considerable growth in the last years due to two key factors: (a) knowledge hidden in organizations databases can be exploited to improve strategic and managerial decision-making; (b) the large volume of data managed by organizations makes it impossible to carry out a manual analysis. A Frequency Domain Steganography using Z Transform (FDSZT)

Image steganography is art of hiding information onto the cover image. In this proposal a transformed domain based gray scale image authentication/data hiding technique using Z transform (ZT) termed as FDSZT, has been proposed. ZTransform is applied on 2x2 masks of the source image in row major order to transform original sub image (cover image) block to its corresponding frequency domain. One bit of the hidden image is embedded in each mask of the source image onto the fourth LSB of transformed coefficient based on median value of the mask. A delicate handle has also been performed as post embedding operation for proper decoding. Stego sub image is obtained through a reverse transform as final step of embedding in a mask. During the process of embedding, dimension of the hidden image followed by the content of the message/hidden image are embedded. Reverse process is followed during decoding. High PSNR obtained for various images conform the quality of invisible watermark of FDSZT.
