Light-induced scattering and coherent optical oscillation in photorefractive PPLN:Y:Fe

Observation of already known and new types of light-induced scattering in bulk periodically poled iron-doped lithium niobate is reported, together with the first demonstration of a degenerate coherent optical oscillator using this new photorefractive material.

Control method conductive properties ZnS quantum dots

Investigation of conducting properties of ZnS quantum dot by acceding to them the gold atoms were presented. It was found that redistribution of electrons in the quantum dot change after the accession of the gold atoms. When adding gold atoms is observed the change in geometry of structure and the change in the redistribution of the electron density. Search equilibrium configuration of the molecule was carried out by the density of state method with basis b3lyp. The object of research is a symmetrical molecule ZnS.

Synthesis of copper nanoparticles stabilized with cetylpyridinium chloride micelles

In this paper a methodology of chemical synthesis of copper nanoparticles stabilized with surfactant cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) micelles has been developed. By varying of the volume of a reduction agent hydrazine hydrate (HH) and value of pH of the reactionary environment the optimum conditions for synthesis of copper nanoparticles with a stable size ranging from 40 to 80 nm were found. The copper nanoparticles obtained by this methodology have a widely perspective for use in such fields as medicine, chemistry, electronics (Langmuir-Blodgett films with conductive properties). The synthesized copper nanoparticles were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and UV-visible spectroscopy.

Ligands Exchange, Studying the Stability and Optical Properties of CdSe/CdS/ZnS Quantum Dots with Liquid Crystal

Liquid crystal (LC) ligands have the ability to control the dispersion and the homogeneity of quantum dots (QDs) in solution. LC phase transition can be used as a tool to control the assembly of dispersed QDs. Comparing the results before and after the ligands exchange (oleic acid to liquid crystal) highlights some important differences in optical and morphology properties of QDs. We have studied changes in optical properties and a shift in the spectral wavelength band of QDs with LC ligands. Application of LC ligands leads to quenching of the emission and excitation spectra intensity of CdSe/CdS/ZnS QDs. Such hybrid materials have interesting potential for usage in a variety of applications such as photonic materials or (bio) chemical sensors.

Surface-active substance monolayer stability after its formation

The effect of different concentrations of K⁺, Na⁺, Ca²⁺, Ni²⁺, Al³⁺ and Fe³⁺ ions on surface-active substance monolayer stability has been studied using molecular mechanics method. For numerical calculations, energy potential Amber was used. Arachidic acid was chosen as a surface-active substance for monolayer formation because it is insoluble in water at normal conditions. Energy stability values representing system stability was calculated for different ion concentrations. It is established that the most stable system is formed by trivalent metal ions and that system stability decreases together with ionic charge. For each type of ions, a concentration value corresponding to most optimal stability was found with further increase of ion concentration leading to decrease of stability.
