Sum-rate maximising in cognitive MIMO ad-hoc networks using weighted MMSE approach

This reported work focuses on weighted sum-rate maximisation (WSRM) of cognitive radio ad-hoc networks, where a K user multiple-input multiple-output interference network (K-MIMO-IFN) uses the same spectrum with a licenced primary user. Because the WSRM problem in K-MIMO-IFN is non-convex and it is difficult to get an optimal solution directly, the weighted minimum mean square error (MMSE) approach is used to make the problem easier to handle. This report then proposes a dual-MMSE-algorithm, which iteratively finds a local optimal solution and only needs the local channel knowledge. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms other conventional algorithms.

A Large-Capacity Micro-Cavity Array Fiber With Randomly Distributed Characteristic Parameters

This paper proposes a large-capacity micro-cavity array (MCA) fiber structure with randomly distributed characteristic parameters, which improves the reuse capacity of the entire micro-cavity array. The effect of multiple reflections on the signal-to-noise ratio of the system can reduce by random grating spacing in the micro-cavity array. Thereby increasing the reuse capacity of the entire micro-cavity array. The feasibility of the method is verified by simulating the signal-to-noise ratio and multiple reflection power of the micro-cavity unit under different random intervals. The three random intervals of 10%, 20%, and 30% are simulated. The power of the input grating optical is 0 dB At the lowest signal-to-noise ratio of 12 dB, the multiplexing capacity of the three randomly spaced fiber Bragg grating (FBG) micro-cavity arrays has been increased by 1112, 1094, and 1111, which is more than 10% higher than that of the equally spaced micro-cavity array fibers. The micro-cavity array fiber proposed in this paper is composed of the ultrashort weak grating. A micro-cavity (MC) is constructed between two adjacent gratings to form a fully distributed micro-cavity array, which has the characteristics of full distribution and high precision. Increasing the multiplexing capacity of micro-cavity arrays can apply to large range, long distance and high spatial resolution structural state monitoring better.

We developed a large multiplexing capacity randomly distributed characteristic parameters (RDCP)-FBG array for distributed sensing applications. Large-scale multiplexing of 10000 FBGs along a 10m-long fiber is achieved, equivalent to 1mm spatial resolution.

Joint energy efficiency optimization with nonlinear precoding in multi-cell broadcast systems

In this paper, we focus on maximizing weighted sum energy efficiency (EE) for a multi-cell multi-user channel. In order to solve this non-convex problem, we first decompose the original problem into a sequence of parallel subproblems which can optimized separately. For each subproblem, a base station employs dirty paper coding to maximize the EE for users within a cell while regulating interference induced to other cells. Since each sub-problem can be transformed to a convex multiple-access channel problem, the proposed method provides a closed-form solution for power allocation. Then, based on the derived optimal covariance matrix for each subproblem, a local optimal solution is obtained to maximize the sum EE. Finally, simulation results show that our algorithm based on non-linear precoding achieves about 20 percent performance gains over the conventional linear precoding method.

High dynamic range distributed acoustic sensing based on dual-wavelength fiber Bragg grating pairs

A high dynamic range distributed acoustic sensing (DAS) system is demonstrated based on a dual-wavelength ( 2 λ ) interferometric acoustic sensor array, constructed using 2 λ fiber Bragg grating pairs (FBGPs). Each FBGP is composed of two weak FBGs presenting − 30 -dB reflectivity and center wavelengths of 1535 nm and 1565 nm. With the phase demodulation results from the two wavelengths, 2 λ linear regression phase unwrapping is implemented, which significantly enhances the dynamic range of the DAS system. By examining the four time-division-multiplexed sensors, an average background noise level of − 105.2 d B r a d / H z at 1 kHz and a cross talk level lower than − 70 d B at 1 kHz are achieved.

Sign-Alternating Thermoelectric Quantum Oscillations and Insulating Landau Levels in Monolayer WTe2

The detection of Landau-level-like energy structures near the chemical potential of an insulator is essential to the search for a class of correlated electronic matter hosting charge-neutral fermions and Fermi surfaces, a long-proposed concept that remains elusive experimentally. Here we introduce and demonstrate that the magneto-thermoelectric response of a quantum insulator can reveal critical information not available via other approaches. We report large quantum oscillations (QOs) in the Seebeck response of the hole-doped insulating state of monolayer tungsten ditelluride (WTe2) in magnetic fields. The QOs remarkably undergo sign-changes as the field is swept, mimicking those in metals with Landau quantization. The sign-change in the thermoelectric response directly implies the presence of a field-induced Landau-level-like structure at the chemical potential of the insulator. Our results reinforce WTe2 as a platform for investigating insulating Landau levels and mobile neutral fermions in two-dimensional insulators.

Robust Relay Precoding Design for Two Way Relay Systems with Delayed and Limited Feedback

This letter addresses the robust linear precoding design at the relay node in two way relay systems with independent source-relay and relay-source channels. An antenna configuration in which both the two source nodes S1 and S2 and the relay node R are equipped with multiple antennas, is assumed. Due to delayed and finite-rate feedback, only outdated and quantized channel direction information (CDI) of the downlink channel is available at the transmitter of the relay during the broadcast (BC) phase. To tackle the performance degradation caused by the joint effects of channel quantization error and feedback delay, we propose a robust precoding scheme based on minimizing the expected weighted sum mean squared error (WS-MSE) conditioned on the induced channel uncertainties subject to relay power constraints. We also find that CDI-only feedback is sufficient for calculating the robust precoding matrix. Numerical results validate the robustness of the proposed scheme.
