The aim of the present work was to evaluate the antimicrobial activity of Terminalia catappa L. fruit peels using various extraction methods. In the present study, extraction was done by six different methods. The antimicrobial activity was done by agar well diffusion assay against five Gram positive bacteria, five Gram negative bacteria and four fungi. All extracts exhibited varied level of antimicrobial activity. The extracts showed higher zone of inhibition against Gram positive bacteria as compared to Gram negative bacteria and fungi. Methanolic extract obtained by cold percolation method showed significant antimicrobial activity indicating its potency as a promising source of natural antimicrobial components. The results confirm that Terminalia catappa can be used as a source of therapeutic agents.
