Inducing Growth of FeNi-Pt Match-Like Magnetic Nanoheterostructures on Pt Nanotips and Dechlorination of Hydrochloric Ether

Abstract Newly designed magnetic FeNi–Pt match‐like heterostructured nanorods were synthesized by means of induced growth of FeNi nanorods on Pt nanotips. The proposed synthesis mechanism is corroborated by SEM, TEM, XRD and XPS. The magnetic behavior shows that the magnetic saturation and coercivity are strongly dependent on both the shape and the alloy composition. The saturation magnetizations (Ms) and the coercivity (Hc) of nanorods synthesized are larger than those of nanoparticles because of the relatively large anisotropy of nanorods. Maximum saturation magnetization is obtained for Fe 82 Ni 15 –Pt 3 at 226.6 emu g −1 , whereas maximum coercivity is obtained for Fe 20 Ni 77 –Pt 3 at 136.8 Oe. Shape‐dependent reactivity toward the reduction of chlorinated solvents was observed for the FeNi–Pt heterostructured nanomaterials. In particular, the Fe 82 Ni 15 –Pt 3 nanorods are highly reactive in the dechlorination process of 1,1,2,2‐tetrachloroethane.

Cloud Point Extraction and Separation of Scandium and Yttrium (III) with Triton X‐114 in the Presence or Absence 8‐Hydroquiloline as an Added Chelate

Abstract In this paper, the cloud point extraction and separation of scandium and yttrium (III) via use of Triton X‐114 with and without 8‐hydroquiloline (HQ) as an added chelate agent are investigated. The effects of various parameters, such as the aqueous phase pH, HQ concentration, Triton X‐114 concentration, heating temperature, and incubation time, on the cloud point extraction of scandium and yttrium (III) are studied. The results demonstrate that, there are different extraction and separation behaviors for scandium and yttrium (III) with and without HQ as an added chelate. And in contrast to solvent extraction, cloud point extraction is an excellent method to extract and separate scandium and yttrium (III).

CoFePS Quaternary Alloy Sub‐Nanometric Sheets by Synchronously Phospho‐Sulfurizing CoFe‐Bimetallene for Boosting Oxygen Evolution Reaction

Abstract Due to the sluggish kinetics of oxygen evolution reaction (OER), electrocatalysts are urgently needed to simultaneously achieve increased activity, enhanced stability, and reduced cost. Herein, CoFePS quaternary alloy sub‐nanometric sheet is synthesized via synchronously phosphor‐sulfurizing CoFe‐bimetallene. Heteroatomization results in increasing conductivity, enhancing interactions with electrolyte, and improving chemical structural stability to exhibit a current density of 10 mA cm −2 at 211 mV and a large current of 1053 mA cm −2 at 570 mV. Density functional theory calculations reveal that the adjustment of Fermi levels of adjacent metal atoms reduces reaction energy barrier and accelerates electron transfer, resulting in a Tafel slope of 14 mV dec −1 . In situ Raman monitors the formation of phosphor‐sulfate shell oxidized surface as active sites improved the OER stability of CoFePS, with a retention rate of 99.7% at 10 mA cm −2 for 78 h. This study provides a promising strategy for the synthesis of multicomponent alloy sub‐nanometric sheet as good electrocatalyst candidates for OER.

A Tubular Sandwich-Structured CNT@Ni@Ni₂(CO₃)(OH)₂ with High Stability and Superior Capacity as Hybrid Supercapacitor

Development of highly stabile battery-type electrode materials with superior capacity has been a critical challenge for hybrid supercapacitors. We report a high-performance electrode material, tubular sandwich-structured CNT@Ni@Ni2(CO3)(OH)2, synthesized via a scalable, dynamic, controlled in situ reduction–chemical deposition process. Applied as a battery-type electrode material, this novel nanostructure exhibits excellent electrochemical stability, majorly attributed to the Ni midshell serving a dual role as "capacity supplement" and "electron highway", which, to our knowledge, was incorporated into the nanocomposite electrodes for the first time. Also benefiting from the high conductivity of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and the high capacity of the amorphous NiOOH ultrathin film [converted from the Ni2(CO3)(OH)2 outer shell], the resulting CNT@Ni@Ni2(CO3)(OH)2 material as a battery-type electrode achieves a superior capacity of 221 mAh·g–1 at 5 A·g–1 with 76% capacity retention at 50 A·g–1 and maintains 81% capacity after 9000 cycles at 5 A·g–1. An advanced aqueous hybrid supercapacitor using activated carbon and CNT@Ni@Ni2(CO3)(OH)2 nanocomposite as the negative and positive electrodes, respectively, delivers a high energy density of 179 Wh·kg–1 at a power density of 2880 W·kg–1 with capacitance retention in excess of 85% over 5500 cycles. The outstanding performance demonstrates its practical potential in advanced hybrid supercapacitors.

Highly‐Exposed Co‐CoO Derived from Nanosized ZIF‐67 on N‐Doped Porous Carbon Foam as Efficient Electrocatalyst for Zinc‐Air Battery

Non-precious-metal based electrocatalysts with highly-exposed and well-dispersed active sites are crucially needed to achieve superior electrocatalytic performance for oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) toward zinc-air battery (ZAB). Herein, Co-CoO heterostructures derived from nanosized ZIF-67 are densely-exposed and strongly-immobilized onto N-doped porous carbon foam (NPCF) through a self-sacrificial pyrolysis strategy. Benefited from the high exposure of Co-CoO heterostructures and the favorable mass and electron transfer ability of NPCF, the Co-CoO/NPCF electrocatalyst exhibits remarkable performance for both ORR (E1/2 = 0.843 V vs RHE) and OER (Ej = 10 mA cm-2 = 1.586 V vs RHE). Further application of Co-CoO/NPCF as the air-cathode in rechargeable ZAB achieves superior performance for liquid-state ZAB (214.1 mW cm-2 and 600 cycles) and flexible all-solid-state ZAB (93.1 mW cm-2 and 140 cycles). Results from DFT calculations demonstrate that the electronic metal-support interactions between Co-CoO and NPCF via abundant C-Nx sites is favorable for electronic structure modulation, accounting for the remarkable performance.
