The aim of this study was to investigate the changes in properties of wool fibres through the all phases of the production processes from fibre to woven fabric. Research on fibres were carried out before spinning, after spinning and after weaving and on the yarns before weaving and after weaving. According to obtained results it can be determined that noticeable changes in the properties of the fibres and yarns through these phases have arisen. The biggest changes were recorded in the process of weaving. It was also noticed that the weave influences the changes in properties of the fibres, yarns and fabrics. Direction of the fabric that had a greater number of threads transitioning from fabric face side on the reverse side, and vice versa, have major changes in fibres and yarns strength utilization in the fabric, which means that the weave directly influences the changes in the fibres and yarns properties
To understand textiles and their application today, as well as future applications, it is necessary to comprehend the development of textiles and their applications throughout history. The gradual development of textile production processes and the use of different materials, influenced the development and application of materials themselves. Numerous innovations made since Industrial revolution, events in technology development and international competition have shaped the industry and continue to affect the textile production even today. Nowadays, textiles can be divided into two main sectors according to their application: conventional textiles (textiles for fashion clothing) and technical textiles with numerous applications for nearly all society needs. Due to market needs and technology development, the interference of all areas of science occurs, resulting in amazing innovations that follow existing trends and set future trends in terms of interactivity, digital and electronic functionality, social and environmental awareness, esthetics, etc. These are the reasons for great freedom, development prospects, expression of creativity and thus of innovativeness. The need for them today is greater and more important than ever before in the history of textiles and their application.
The subject matter of Designing and making damask table linen using Damcro is based on creating a conceptual graphic model inspired by a mask. The paper describes the complete technological design process of making damask fabric and damask table linen, respectively - napkins, table toppers and cloths, form picture over computer processing to final weaving pattern and woven fabric. The first part includes theoretical processing, and the second one includes experimental and results, i.e. practical application of the theory in practice of the theme. Several designer solutions of damask table linen are given in standard sizes. By dealing with the experimental work the procedure of designing damask table linen has been explained. It was carried out by designing a weave pattern for the production process by means of the Damcro software package and its description substantiated by manufactured and added samples of a woven cotton damask fabric, using a napkin as an example from the production range of table linen. To explain this whole process, a special program for weaving damask fabrics named Damcro is used. It consists of several interconnecting and complementing programs. On account of its complexity it offers the opportunity to create more complex and sophisticated patterns which could not be realized practically before. Advantages of such computer processing in comparison to the previous operation method are being explained, in particular the advantages related to the speed and accuracy of making a complex weave pattern. Based on the aforementioned a sample of one of the solutions for practical use was made at the company Kelteks, Karlovac, Croatia.
