Levamisole effects on the biochemical, hematological, and Histopathological parameters on heat stress fish.40 Cyprinus carpio fish were distributed into 4 groups, raised in a glass aquarium, and provided with a basic diet for ten days. Control groups as G1 and three treated groups were tested G2 with the elevated water temperature at 30°C, G3 was treated with a concentrated dose of 125 mg/L of levamisole, and the water temperature was25°C. At the same time, G4 elevated water temperature to 30°C and treated with the same dose of levamisole. At the end of the experiment, all groups were euthanized. Blood samples were collected for packed cell volume, hemoglobin, mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, cortisol, glucose, immunoglobulin, albumin, and histopathological investing from all groups also done. The results showed that the G2 and G3 showed highly significant variation in the level of glucose and albumin in contrast to others, as well G4 showed highly significant variation in the level of the biochemical parameters, G4 showed a higher level of biological parameters changes in contrast to the other groups. At the same time, the hematological value was higher in the G3. The pathological alterations of G2, G3 and G4 represented vascular changes such as hemorrhagic congestion, disturbances of growth infiltration of inflammatory cell, necrosis, hyalin cast and dilution of bowman's capsule; all these changes were graded as mild, moderate, and severe changes and were more severe in G2.Our results refer that immune stimulant agents enhance the biochemical and hematological parameters, but it leads to changes in the liver and kidney due to the effects of heat stress.
Colchicine is a drug widely used for the management of many disorders, such as acute gout and Behçet’s disease. It is also prescribed for the treatment of pericarditis, atrial fibrillation coronary artery diseases, and secondary amyloidosis. In case this drug is used at the early stages of coronavirus infection, its anti-inflammatory properties may reduce the severe inflammatory reactions related to a cytokine storm by affecting the inflammasome. The purpose of the present study was to determine the toxicity of Colchicine on testis in rats from different age groups for 10 days. A total of 27 male Wistar rats were divided into three groups. The rats in group I (control group) were administered distilled water by oral gavage. Group II consisted of young rats (5-6 months old) who orally received Colchicine 3 mg/kg body weight. Group III entailed rats of 14-16 months who were orally administered colchicine 3 mg/kg body weight. The testis of the treated groups was dissected and examined for histological changes and morphometrical analysis. The obtained results indicated that high doses of Colchicine (3 mg/kg body weight) could induce tissue damage to the testis, including degeneration and necrosis of both Sertoli and Leydig cells with irregular divisions of germinal epithelium, even when it was used for short periods (10 days). In the elderly treated rats, there were severe tissue damages, including degeneration and necrosis of germinal epithelium with irregular divisions of germ cells, necrosis of Sertoli and Leydig cells with sloughing of germinal epithelium toward the lumen of the tubule. Therefore, there is a need to conduct more studies to investigate the side effect of Colchicine as it is excessively used in the management of coronavirus.
Coronaviruses are large, enveloped and single-stranded, non-segmented with positive sense RNA virus belong to Nidovirus, family Coronavirirdae and included two subfamilies Orthocoronavirinae and Letovirinae. There are four genera variable in antigenestic characteristic and cross-reactivity (Alpha-coronavirus, Beta-coronavirus, Gamma-coronavirus and Delta-coronavirus) affect mammals and birds while Bafinivirus affect fish and cause different diseases in the vertebrate animals and human, so this review listed most important diseases in some animals which cause economic problems as in the avian cause infectious bronchitis(IB), in the bovine cause diseases in both bowl and respiratory system, Enteric form Disease in the equine, two forms of diseases have been occurred in the feline ( feline enteric coronavirus and feline infectious peritonitis), in canine cause enteric and respiratory syndrome while in the porcine the diseases occur as are Transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV), porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), and porcine delta coronavirus (PDCoV).Also, coronaviruses affect aquatic animals and cause general clinical signs in fish. Some of these pathogens transmitted from camel and bates and causes diseases for human as SARS, MERS and SARS-2.From these review the conclusion is the hygiene practices and biosecurity are more important to prevent the emerging diseases in both human and animals cause by a coronavirus.
In addition, the journal promotes research on biochemical and molecularbiological or environmental, toxicological and occupational aspects of pathology are requested as well as developmental and histological studies on light and electron microscopical level, or case reports..
The current study aimed to investigate the infection of racing pigeons with paramyxovirus-1(PMV-1) based on clinical signs of histological and histochemical changes, which increase the mortality rate in flocks called pigeons paramyxovirus. The study samples were collected from 45 birds from different Mosul city regions suffering from neurological signs considered pathological signs of paramyxovirus infection, like tremors, ataxia, leg and wing paralysis, and torticollis. The study collected some organs from birds most affected by infection with paramyxovirus. They include the heart, brain, liver, and kidneys. Grossly, brain lesions represented 66.6%, heart lesions represented 37.7%, liver lesions represented 55.5%, and kidney lesions represented 42.2%, respectively. The histological examination of these organs showed many histological changes represented by degenerative, necrotic, and inflammatory changes in all the tissue studied, in addition to the presence of vascular changes and fibrosis in some sections. In contrast, the section stained with Masson's trichrome showed severe deposition of collagen fibers in liver and heart tissues. The conclusion of the current study represented the histopathological histochemical changes in naturally infected racing pigeons with PMV -1. pigeons are considered a serious victim of the virus, which replicates in all body organs, since it is considered a severe threat and problem to poultry flocks.
Heavy metals contamination is a serious problem in the aquatic environment. Some of them are very important, having biological roles for aquatic organisms, and called essential heavy metals. In contrast, other heavy metals are considered harmful even at low concentrations. The toxic levels of heavy metals may be of agricultural, industrial and mining activities. This will cause water pollution and changes in the physicochemical characteristics of the aquatic environment. This pollution has deleterious toxic effects on fish and raises concerns over its potential impact on human health. The most common heavy metals are arsenic, chromium, lead and mercury, which affect human health and are considered systemic toxicants. These metals induce organ damage even at low levels of exposure and according to the US Environmental protection agency and international agency for research on cancer, they classified as carcinogens. For all the above reasons, this review was written to contribute to heavy metals' role in the environment, toxic mechanism and toxic effects on fish.
The nervous system is the most delicate organ to neurotoxic substances that affects the development of neurochemicals, including neurotransmitters, and organization of ion channels. Urtica dioica (Nettle) is one of the medicinal plants, which has been increasingly highlighted used for its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative components. This study aimed to evaluate the improvement effects of Urtica dioica extract on the histopathological lesions of nervous system in rabbit model. Fifteen male rabbits of 700-800 grams separated into three groups, the first group is the control, and the second group were treated with 0.75% ethylene glycol (EG) in water for 30 days, group three were combination treated group with both EG and Urtica dioica at 100 mg/kg for 10 days. Microscopic histological examination discovered generalized congestion of blood vessels at the cerebrum and cerebellum, degeneration and necrosis of the neuronal cells of the cerebral cortex which characterized by swelling of the degenerative cells, while necrotic cells characterized by shrunken and pyknosis of the cells in the cerebellum cortex presents of inflammatory cells in the meninges. In conclusion, the histopathological examination of brain sections of rabbits treated with ethylene glycol in addition to Urtica dioica extract showed slight improvement in the histological pictures of the cerebellum and cerebrum.
