Analysis of fractional order low pass Elliptic filters

This paper proposes the design of low pass Elliptic filter in fractional-order domain. By designing in fractional domain an extra degree of freedom has been achieved, which provides relationship between cutoff frequency and order of fractional filter. The effect of bandwidth on fractional order Elliptic filter is presented. The magnitude response of integer and fractional order Elliptic filter has been analyzed. Proposed design has inherent advantages as compared to Butterworth and Chebyshev filter in integer and fractional domain. The comparison of fractional order Chebyshev and Elliptic filter for same specifications has been presented. Numerical analysis is done using MATLAB.

Design of second order IIR digital fractional order differentiator and DC blocker using optimization techniques

This paper focuses on designing two digital second order infinite impulse response (IIR) fractional order circuits-a digital differentiator and a DC blocker using optimization techniques. The Firefly Algorithm was first employed for designing a second order infinite impulse response digital fractional order differentiator and the time complexity was measured. Next the efficacy of the Firefly algorithm and Cuckoo Search Algorithm were compared in designing a new second order infinite impulse response DC Blocker by comparing the closeness to ideal response of the DC blocker. The DC blocker designed by Firefly Algorithm outperforms the existing first order recursive DC blocker as well as the one designed by the Cuckoo Search Algorithm.

TECHNOLOGY OTA Model Used in Active-Passive Filter for Lowering Power Consumption

Biomedical signals are usually of 10-mHz to 100-H z frequency range. Designing of these low power consumption filters has many applications in biomed ical signal processing and their interfacing with s ensors. The performance of these filters designed by the use of passive components degrades at audio frequencies a nd the required resistance and inductance values calculate d from the mathematical expression are very difficu lt to meet from the market. In this we study the realization o f Passive Filters into Active Filters using Operati onal Transconductance to solve the problem of power consumption.

Fractional order Butterworth filter optimization using Interior Search Algorithm

A meta-heuristic algorithm - Interior search Algorithm (ISA) based optimization of fractional second order Butterworth filter is presented in this paper. The performance of this method is compared to a previously used Simulated Annealing based approach. ISA is used to find the global best for the transfer function by generating coefficients for optimal performance using the fitness function. Finally, an integer order filter is realized using the Tow Thomas filter to simulate the performance of the optimized fractional filter.
