Abstract The incidence of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is increasing worldwide, and effective treatment is urgently needed. To understand the molecular mechanisms behind the effectiveness of bariatric surgery in treating NASH, we integrated single-cell and bulk RNA sequencing data to identify the role of liver macrophage polarization in alleviating NASH and screen possible drugs for treatment. Analysis revealed that bariatric surgery alleviates NASH by inhibiting liver M1 macrophage polarization with 12 differentially expressed M1 macrophage-related genes. Additionally, 56 potentially effective drugs were predicted for NASH treatment. These findings shed light on the effectiveness of bariatric surgery in treating NASH and offer potential drug candidates for further exploration.
Appearance anxiety and depression have become common and global public health problems worldwide, especially among adolescents. However, few studies have revealed the mechanisms between them. This study aimed to explore the multiple mediating roles of interpersonal sensitivity and social support between appearance anxiety and depression among medical college students.
Porous self-supporting carbon nitride with nitrogen defects not only optimizes the surface electronic structure of a catalyst but also provides an abundance of reactive sites for the photocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction.
Purpose/ aim: The aim is to examine if IKEA expand too fast. We try to find answers to this problem. This is a huge problem to IKEA and other large-scale companies which plan to expand in the world.Design/methodology/approach: Data on customers’ feelings has been collected through questionnaires. The analysis includes a description of the sample and statistic test. After the test, the relationship between price and quality will be found.Findings: The analysis showed that the expansion of IKEA is fast enough to affect the quality of the products. There is a positive relationship between the quality and price. The rule is that the higher the price the better the quality. The data collected from the questionnaires shows that people think that the quality of IKEA’s products has decreased. In the analysis, the details are showed. What happened, and why did it happen? From this we suggest that IKEA should slow down the steps to expansion and pay more attention to the quality of the products.Originality/ value: The topic about IKEA’s expansion is a totally new area, which hasn’t been researched upon before. Most people think IKEA is a miracle and they always hope IKEA will build more stores in the world, but with this we disagree. Based on these findings we would argue that IKEA should slow down the steps to expansion and pay more attention to the quality of the products. This study has value for all the large-scale companies that want to find a way to analyze if a company expands too fast.
Alzheimer's disease (AD), a prevalent multiple neurodegenerative disease, has gained attention, particularly in the aging population. However, presently available therapies merely focus on alleviating the symptoms of AD and fail to slow disease progression significantly. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has been used to ameliorate symptoms or interfere with the pathogenesis of aging-associated diseases for many years based on disease-modifying in multiple pathological roles with multi-targets, multi-systems and multi-aspects. Mahonia species as a TCM present potential for anti-inflammatory activity, antioxidant activity, anti-acetylcholinesterase activity, and antiamyloid- beta activity that was briefly discussed in this review. They are regarded as promising drug candidates for AD therapy. The findings in this review support the use of Mahonia species as an alternative therapy source for treating AD.
The coexistence of electric and magnetic orders with intrinsic coupling, referred to as magnetoelectric coupling in multiferroics, has been extensively studied in oxide materials but remains relatively unexplored in van...
