Stereoscopic conversion has been an important and challenging issue for many 3-D video applications. Usually, there are two different stereoscopic conversion approaches, i.e., image motion-based conversion that uses motion information and object-based conversion that partitions an image into moving or static foreground object(s) and background and then converts the foreground in a stereoscopic object. As well, since the input sequence is MPEG-1/2 compressed video, motion data stored in compressed bitstream are often unreliable and thus the image motion-based conversion might fail. To solve this problem, we present the utilization of key-motion that has the better accuracy of estimated or extracted motion information. To deal with diverse motion types, a transform space produced from motion vectors and color differences is introduced. A key-motion is determined from the transform space and its associated stereoscopic image is generated. Experimental results validate effectiveness and robustness of the proposed method.

In this paper, we present depth map generation method using shot conversion DS (Description Scheme). This approach can provide an accurate depth map and many applications can utilize such depth map. For instance, stereoscopic and multi-view images are one of the applications. In general, movie clips are produced with a variety of shot techniques such as long shot, closeup shot, medium shot, etc. Each shot has its own characteristics that can be utilized during the conversion process. Furthermore, a description scheme for shot and camera information is presented in XML. XML shot editor generates XML shot data.

To overcome the low stereoscopic quality of automatic stereo conversion technologies, the usage of the shot type is expected to provide more satisfactory stereoscopic perception. TVML을 기반으로 하는 살아있는 실감 콘텐츠의 구현

실감콘텐츠는 3DTV, 다시점 TV 등의 필수적인 콘텐츠로, 향후 다양한 유형의 콘텐츠 제작이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 3D환경의 방송용 콘텐츠로 살아있는 콘텐츠의 제작기법을 제안한다. 살아있는 콘텐츠는 등장하는 캐릭터가 이동하고, 애기를 하도록 제작되어, 기존의 단순한 2D영상의 시청에서 살아있는 캐릭터를 시청할 수 있다. 제안 시스템은 TVML (TV program Making Language)을 기반으로 제작되며, 한 장의 영상이 주어지면, 3D Studio MAX 등과 같은 3D 콘텐츠 제작 툴을 이용하여 캐릭터 및 배경, 물체에 대한 객체 화일을 생성한다. 이렇게 제작된 객체 화일들을 TVML 스크립트에서 불러오고, 이들의 동작을 지시함으로써 살아있는 3D 영상 콘텐츠를 제작한다. 실험 콘텐츠로 신윤복의 단오풍정 그림을 적용하여, 배경에 깊이를 주고 또한 캐릭터들이 움직이고 말하게 된다. 사용자가 다양한 이벤트를 제작하면 보다 실감 있고 관람객의 몰입도를 높일수 있다. 개인이 제작하기 힘든 방송용 실험 콘텐츠를 손쉽게 제작함으로써 Web 2.0 환경에서의 사용자 참여 중심의 콘텐츠제작의 용이성을 제공한다.

로스 텍스처 필터 기반 영상의 자동 깊이 생성 기법

영상의 깊이 정보를 추출하는 것은 매우 어려운 연구이다. 다양한 유형의 영상 구조의 분석이 필요하지만 많은 경우에 주관적인 판단의 도움이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 로스 텍스처 필터를 기반으로 정지 영상의 깊이를 자동으로 생성하는 방법을 제안한다. 로스 텍스처 필터는 단안 비전에서 3D 깊이를 얻기 위한 방법으로 활용되었는데, 실제 2D 영상에서 깊이를 예측하기 위해 텍스처 편차, 텍스처 기울기, 색상 등을 활용한다. 로스 필터는 1×5 벡터로부터 콘볼루션을 이용하여, 20여개의 5×5 콘볼루션 필터가 구해지는데, 영상에 필터를 적용하여 로스 에너지를 계산한다. 구해진 에너지를 깊이 맵으로 변환하고, 깊이 맵에서 특징 점을 구하고, 특징 점들로부터 델러노이 삼각화를 이용하여 삼각형 깊이 메쉬를 얻는다. 구해진 깊이 맵의 성능을 측정하기 위해 카메라 시점을 변경하면서 영상의 3D 구조를 분석하였으며, 입체영상을 생성하여 3D 입체 시청 결과를 분석하였다. 실험에서는 로스 텍스처 필터를 이용하는 깊이 생성 방법이 좋은 효과를 얻는 것을 확인하였다.
