Effective management of unique animal genetic resources, such as local breeds, is one of the most important concerns in modern breeding. In the present study, 30 microsatellite loci were analyzed to evaluate the genetic diversity, population structure, and relationships among Jeju native and exotic pig breeds. In total, 200 animals from four pig breeds (Jeju native, Landrace, Yorkshire and Berkshire) were analyzed, 50 individuals per breed. Overall, 265 alleles were observed. The mean expected and observed heterozygosity (HExp and HObs) and polymorphism information content (PIC) of Jeju native pig were calculated at 0.550, 0.565, and 0.485, respectively. However, exotic breeds were higher level of these diversity parameters than those of Jeju native pig. Phylogenetic analysis, factorial component analysis (FCA), and genetic clustering results showed a clear distinction among the four groups representing the breeds, supporting the genetic uniqueness of the Jeju native breed in comparison with Western commercial breeds. These results were scientific evidence that Jeju native pig represent a unique and valuable animal genetic resource.
This study was conducted to establish the method for preserving PGCs that enables long-term storage in liquid nitrogen for developmental engineering or preservation of species. The purpose of this study is to clarify the effects of freeze-thaw treatment on viability of PGCs in chickens. PGCs were collected separately from a germinal gonad of an early embryo of 5.5~6 day (stage 28) of Isa brown, Korean Oge (KO), White Leghorn and Commercial breeds. PGCs separated from a germinal gonad of an early embryo of 5.5~6 day (stage 28) are suspended in a freezing medium containing a freezing and protecting agents (e.g. dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), ethylene glycol (EG) and glycerol). The PGCs were then purified using magnetic activated cell sorting (MACS) method. The viability of PGCs after thawing was 87.4±0.4% and 89.4±0.2% with the 10% EG treatments with no significant higher for Isa brown (87.4±0.4%) and Commercial breeds. The viability of PGCs after freeze-thawing was significantly higher for Isa brown (87.4±0.4%) and Commercial breeds (89.4±0.2%) than Korean Oge (KO) (77.6±1.1%) and White Leghorn (76.2±0.9%)(p 2 ) at agermplasm repository and ease of entry into a data base. In the future, the importance for this new technology is that poultry lines can be conserved while work is being conducted on improving the production of germline chimeras.

The aim of this study was conducted to provide added assistant system on productive performance, behavioral, and blood composition of Korean native(Hanwoo) steers. A total of 48Hanwoo steers(aged 18-months) were housed separately in groups of 4heads in a pen(32m2) for 10months. The steers were average body weight of 410.63±8.76kg were used in this experiment. In the case of steers were assigned to 4groups; control(untreated), treatment 1(an individual cow brush, CB), treatment 2(play structure, PS), and treatment 3(an individual cow brush plus play structure, CBPS). Steers in PS and CBPS groups showed significantly higher(p<0.05) growth performance than the control group. Standing were significantly higher(p<0.05) in control group than the other treatment groups. However, feeding, lying and walking were significantly higher(p<0.05) in PS and CBPS groups. In addition, Blood composition included white blood cell and cortisol levels significantly higher(p<0.05) in the control group. 본 논문은 계란에 대한 소비자들의 인식을 향상시키기 위해 산란계 종류에 따른 계란품질과 성분조성을 실험 및 분석하였다. 산란개시 32주령에 있는 4개 품종의 청색란실용계 (BC), 연산오골계(YS), 재래닭 (KN), 백색레그혼 (WL) 총 120수 (각 처리구당 10수 × 3반복 × 4처리구)를 임의 배치하여 생산된 계란의 성분을 분석하였다. 계란의 품질 평가의 경우, BC가 다른 품종에 비하여 호우닛 계수 (82.82),난각강도 (0.37 mm) 및 난각두께 (40.58 kg/cm2)가 유의적으로 높게 나왔으며, 계란의 콜레스테롤 함량은 BC가 317.58 mg/100g로 가장 낮았지만, YS는 381.30 mg/100g으로 매우높게 나타났다 (p<0.05). 그리고 계란의 지방산 조성에서 oleic acid (C18:1n9)함량은 BC가 다른품종보다 매우 낮았으며, 아미노산의 경우에는 Thronine과 Proline을 제외한 모든 성분에서 대체로WL종이 다른 품종보다 더 높게 나타났다 (p<0.05).
