Fault-Tolerant Robust Control for a Class of Nonlinear Uncertain Time-Delay Systems

The fault-tolerant robust control problem for a class of nonlinear uncertain systems with time-delay is studied.For nonlinear uncertain systems with time-delay,based on the fault model of continuous gain,the sufficient conditions for the existence of delay-independent robust fault-tolerant controller are obtained by using Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional method and linear matrix inequality approach when a class of nonlinear uncertain systems satisfies certain norm conditions.And then,the corresponding design methods of state-feedback robust fault-tolerant controllers are given.The computer simulation for nonlinear uncertain system with time-delay shows that the proposed controllers not only enable the systems to possess integrity but also achieve the given performance,and confirms the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Research on Temperature-Dependent Overcurrent Protection Schemes for SiC MOSFETs

The maximum continuous drain current of SiC MOSFETs varies with the junction temperature, which is closely related to load and ambient temperature. The traditional constant threshold overcurrent protection based on hardware or software cannot adjust the protection threshold according to the junction temperature, resulting in the failure of protection. The relationships among the on-state resistance, the maximum current, the maximum power loss, the junction temperature and the case temperature are analyzed first and then a novel temperature-dependent overcurrent protection scheme is proposed in this paper, which is based on the case temperature of SiC MOSFETs. The threshold of overcurrent protection can be adjusted in real time and it enables the maximum current operation of SiC MOSFETs, which means the utilization rate of power devices is enhanced. The proposed schemes is applied on a single-phase inverter and the experiments show that the scheme can effectively widen the safe operation area of SiC MOSFETs.

A KPI-Based Probabilistic Soft Sensor Development Approach that Maximizes the Coefficient of Determination

Advanced technology for process monitoring and fault diagnosis is widely used in complex industrial processes. An important issue that needs to be considered is the ability to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), which often cannot be measured sufficiently quickly or accurately. This paper proposes a data-driven approach based on maximizing the coefficient of determination for probabilistic soft sensor development when data are missing. Firstly, the problem of missing data in the training sample set is solved using the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm. Then, by maximizing the coefficient of determination, a probability model between secondary variables and the KPIs is developed. Finally, a Gaussian mixture model (GMM) is used to estimate the joint probability distribution in the probabilistic soft sensor model, whose parameters are estimated using the EM algorithm. An experimental case study on the alumina concentration in the aluminum electrolysis industry is investigated to demonstrate the advantages and the performance of the proposed approach.

Uniform Markovian jump model of networked control systems

For the two different cases that the upper bound of network-induced delays is longer or less than one sampling period in a continuous-time networked control system (NCS), by discretizing the model of a continuous-time system and applying the augmented state-space method to the model, a uniform discrete-time jump model governed by Markov chains was presented. The parameters of the model reflected both the length of the delays and computation precision, so this model had more widely adaptability. The existing theory of a jump linear system was applied to analysis the necessary and sufficient conditions guaranteeing the system's stability. An interior-point algorithm was applied to design stabilizing controllers, and an approach to get the feasible initial solution of the interior-point algorithm was proposed. This improved algorithm stated above was applied effectively to the networked control and design of a cart and inverted pendulum with random delays.

Effect of networked control systems delay on its stability and the control methods

This paper analyses systematically the effect and methods of compensation for delays in Networked Control Systems(NCS), discusses the design of the controller when the delays in NCS are less than or longer than one sampling period, constant or variable, random or determinate, independent or governed by Markov chain. And it also discusses the problem of sampling interval jitter, estimated Markov state, MIMO system and data packet dropout. This paper points out that the model method forstudying NCS is various, but the coherency of all these methods is worthy of discussing, such as the augmented state space method, to make the model become a close-looped system with coherent form.

Analysis and control of single‐phase transformerless dual‐frequency grid‐connected inverter

Summary To simplify the inverter topology and suppress the leakage current more effectively, a novel transformerless dual‐frequency grid‐connected inverter with a common direct current (DC) bus is proposed. The proposed inverter retains the advantages of the traditional dual‐frequency inverter such as high efficiency and absence of resonance. In the novel topology, the power unit adopts the highly efficient reliable inverter concept (HERIC) topology with a unipolar modulation strategy, and the auxiliary unit adopts the H‐bridge topology with a bipolar modulation strategy. It is verified that the circulating current between the two units can be eliminated in the proposed inverter. The sensitivity of the circulating current is discussed by considering the tolerance of the filter inductances. In the leakage current equivalent circuit, the DC bus of the power unit is connected to the grid through a low‐impedance branch in parallel with the parasitic capacitance. Therefore, the leakage current is effectively suppressed. Finally, the experimental results are provided to verify the performance of the inverter.

Robust fault-tolerant D-stability analysis for a class of uncertain systems

The problem of robust fault-tolerant H∞ control with D-stability for systems with parameter uncertainty is considered.A sufficient condition for the existence of robust fault-tolerant H∞ output feedback controller with D-stability is derived by means of linear matrix inequality approach.The dynamic output feedback controller is designed by solving a set of linear matrix inequalities.A numerical example is given to show that the obtained controller not only guarantees the closed-loop system to be D-stable but also achieves the given H∞ disturbance index regardless of the actuator faults or not,which illustrates the effectiveness of the proposed method.

A 10 kW single-phase grid-connected photovolatic inverter is designed which is based on DSP TMS320F2812.The components of main circuit of single-phase photovolatic grid-connected inverter and the control system strategy are discussed.The output power factor of the photovoltaic inverter is close to 1 by utilizing suitable algorithm,which shows that the output current of the inverter has low harmonic content and the system has the functions of maximum power point tracking(MPPT) and anti-islanding.The field results demonstrate that the proposed scheme has very good properties.

A speed monitoring method in steel pipe of 3PE-coating process based on industrial Charge-coupled Device

In the process of three layer PE coating(3PE-coating), the speed of steel pipe is a key parameter in the control loop of main drive system, which has direct relationship with performance of control system as well as production quality and efficiency. However, due to forward displacement and rotation characteristic of steel pipe, the traditional contact speed measuring methods are no longer useful under this circumstance. Therefore, a speed monitoring method based on industrial Charge-coupled Device (CCD) is proposed, including image acquisition processing, image calibration, image edge detection and speed calculation. Meanwhile, by industrial application, this algorithm proves to be valid, and the result shows that the speed measuring system in steel pipe of 3PE-coating, not only can detect the speed rapidly and accurately, also have robustness within the influence of the electric magnetic disturbance, dust and high frequency noise in the industrial fields.

Practical active disturbance rejection solution for monitoring automatic gauge control system with large time-delay

A practical active disturbance rejection control(ADRC) solution is proposed for the monitoring automatic gauge control(AGC) system with large time-delay in the hot strip mill.Employing a linear reduced-order model with optimized parameters,the practical ADRC is simple to use,easy to tune and energy-efficient in dealing with the uncertainties and disturbances in plant dynamics.Through the order reduction in both the plant model and the state observer,we develop a first order extended state observer for estimating in real-time the total value of the external and internal disturbances.Simulation results show that the proposed practical ADRC solution compares favorably to the existing solutions,including the standard ADRC,the Smith Predictor and the PID controller,which are all optimized using the mutative scale chaos optimization method to make the comparisons fair.Both the practical and standard ADRCs outperform the Smith Predictor and the PID controller in disturbance-rejection and robustness;however,the practical ADRC has fewer adjustable parameters and significantly smaller energy consumption than the standard ADRC,making it a viable candidate for industrial applications.
