The change response of holographic glucose sensors when changing pH of the solution

We have examined changes in the responses of holographic sensors with phenylboronic acid while pH of solution were increasing in water HCl solution and in solutions of NaCl (0,1-0,4 M). Effect ionic strength results in a significant change in sensors response, that is the result of compression of the matrix sensors.

Generation of the directed X-ray radiation at mechanoluminescence

Results of the experimental investigations of the powerful pulsed laser radiation interaction with three-dimensional photonic structures (synthetic opal matrixes) are presented. Simultaneously with visible range luminescence X-ray generation was registered. Possible mechanisms responsible for X-ray generation are being discussed.

Comparison of the characteristics of the light field in a one-dimensional photonic crystal with the harmonic dielectric constant obtained according to the theory of the perturbations and with the direct calculation

Previously, was developed the method for calculating the light field inside a one-dimensional photonic crystal using perturbation theory by the value detuning from the band edge and calculating using this method the resonance properties of spectral transparency windows adjacent to band edge of a photonic crystal. The method allows to find the field when light propagates with frequencies lying near the band edge by using a set of eigenfunctions corresponding to the band edge for an infinite medium. The analytical expressions are obtained to describe this field and its characteristics, through these eigenfunctions. In the present work, the solution errors obtained by this method are investigated in comparison with direct computer-aided calculation of the field for a medium with a harmonic variation of the dielectric constant under various conditions for implementing this method. The problems of limiting the set of used spatial harmonics when calculating eigenfunctions (2 or more), limiting the number of eigenfunctions involved in constructing a solution (2 or more) are considered.

The possibilities of the colorimetric method for measuring of wavelength's distribution of light radiation in standard and the RAW formats

We compare results of the colorimetric method use for measurements of the wavelength distribution from digital images in standard formats (BMP, JPEG, TIFF) and in RAW-format. It is shown that with the use of the last one the operating range is several times larger (up to 455–625 nm).

Measuring surface distribution of narrowband radiation wavelength by colorimetric method

We propose a method to measure the narrowband radiation wavelength when having a digital picture of the emitting surface. The accuracy of the wavelength determination is better then 1 nm. The method was tested with pictures of the Hg spectrum and with the continuous spectrum of the filament lamp. The degree of homogeneity of the holographic sensor swelling was studied by the method in the stationary case as well as in the non-stationary one.

Properties for the spectral parameters of intermolecular vibrations obtained using Raman scattering of light in dilute aqueous solutions of hydrogen peroxide and in the water

The spectra of Raman scattering (in the region 4-350 cm -1 ) of dilute aqueous solutions of hydrogen peroxide in a wide range of concentrations (from 3 to 0.024%), were measured. The spectral parameters of the high-frequency band of intermolecular (longitudinal) vibrations, obtained using the previously proposed approximating function, were analyzed. To do this, the spectral parameters of the band (for each experiment) were plotted on a diagram in which the abscissa axis is the square of the band width, and the ordinate axis is the square of the band frequency. Previously, it was shown that in such coordinates the water points are located in two regions separated by an inclined strip, in which spectral points (frequency gap) are practically absent. For points of hydrogen peroxide solutions with a concentration from 3 to 0.33%, all points are grouped near the straight line approximating them and are located below this frequency gap. For a series with extended range of peroxide concentrations from 3 to 0.024%, the scatter of points from the approximating straight line increases, but also most of the points are located below the gap. Of the rest of points, several points are near the edge of the gap, some of them are inside the gap, but the gap remains. It has been suggested that the presence of this gap is due to the fact that in the liquid phase some of the water molecules are bound to four neighbors, while the remaining molecules are bound to a smaller number of neighbors.
