Pulse diagnosis, which uses the senses of the doctor’s finger in order to observe the pulsation, therefore examining the condition of the patient’s inner organs and meridian pathways, is an important method of assessment in Oriental medicine. With the Pulse Diagnosis Apparatus, the pulse diagnosis have made a great progress in providing a objective definition of the characteristics of the pulses, which had been characterized in terms of natural phenomenon or poetic expressions. Furthermore, there are several attempts to standardize the doctors’ subjective diagnosis with the Pulse Diagnosis Simulator 1) . Researches on the objectification of pulse diagnosis can be broadly divided into 4 parts; pulse formation mechanism, objective description of the pulse waves, objective measurement and examination of the pulse waves, and objective analysis of pulse waves 2) . Some research has made efforts to interpret the formation mechanism of the pulse waves by analyzing the hemodynamic analysis of the cardiovascular system 3)
1. Objectives This study was designed to andyze the acute toxicity and safety of Yeoldahanso-tang 2. Methods We investigated the acute toxicity for water-extracted Yeoldahanso-tang. 25 male and 25 female mice were observed for 14 days after one day oral administration of Yeoldahanso-tang at the respective doses of 0(control group), 2560, 3200, 4000 and 5000 mg/kg. 3. Results We observed survival rates, general toxicity, change of body weight and autopsy. 4. Conclusions The data confirmed that Yeoldahanso-tang is free from the toxicity and safety problems in oral route respectively. Compared with the control group, we could not find any toxic alteration in all treated groups(2560, 3200, 4000 and 5000 mg/kg). In conclusion, LD50 of Yeoldahanso-tang was over 5000 mg/kg and it is very safe to mice.
본 논문에서는 광섬유 브래그 격자의 공정조건 변화에 따른 $Co^{60}$ 감마방사선 영향을 연구하였다. 광섬유 브래그 격자는 붕소가 첨가된 광민감 광섬유를 이용하여 UV KrF 레이저 세기를 달리하여 제작하였으며, 제작된 광섬유 브래그 격자 센서에 총 선량 33.8 kGy 감마선을 조사하였다. 실험결과를 통하여, 격자 공정을 위한 UV 레이저 세기가 광섬유 브래그 격자의 방사선 민감도에 큰 영향을 줄 수 있다는 것을 확인하였으며, 레이저 공정조건 변화에 따른 방사선에 의한 광섬유 브래그 파장의 변화는 30 % 이상의 차이를 보였다. We studied the effect of $Co^{60}$ gamma-radiation on the FBGs by a variation of grating the fabrication parameters. The FBGs were fabricated in a different UV KrF laser intensity using the same boron co-doped photo-sensitive fiber and exposed to gamma-radiation up to a dose of 33.8 kGy. According to the experimental data and analysis results, We confirmed that the laser intensity for grating inscription has a highly effect on the radiation sensitivity of the FBGs and the radiation-induced Bragg wavelength shift by the change of laser process condition showed a difference more than about 30 %.
Objective: To report unusual brain MRI findings in a patient with posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES) associated with amphetamine Background: When patient with PRES showed predominant mass-like lesions in cerebellum on neuroimaging, the diagnosis becomes challenging as tumors and other etiologies cannot be ruled out. Methods: Case analysis and literature review Results: A 45-year-old male with no known significant past medical history presented to emergency department due to an episode of severe headache. Patient denied any other associated symptoms. Initial systolic blood pressure was 250 mmHg and the rest of physical examination was unremarkable. Brain MRI showed multiple round shaped tumor-like hyperintense lesions in bilateral cerebellar hemispheres with minimal involvement of cerebral hemispheres on FLAIR and T2WI . There was no abnormal signal on any other sequences including post contrast study. CT angiogram of head and neck were unremarkable. Given the clinical presentation of high blood pressure, PRES was our first impression. However, the prominent lesions in the cerebellum with tumor-like morphology was uncommon in PRES and warranted further evaluation for alternative diagnosis. The patient was also found to be positive for amphetamine in a urine drug screen. After the cautious reduction of blood pressure, his clinical symptoms resolved. A follow-up MRI three days later showed significant improvement of the lesions. Therefore, PRES continued to be the primary diagnosis. Given the lack of supportive medical history associated to this condition, the likely cause for PRES is more likely related to amphetamine abuse Conclusions: PRES can present with a variety of MRI findings but predominant lesions in unusual locations such as cerebellum are uncommon. A follow up imaging and investigation for other etiologies are critical.
We experienced two cases of cord infarction. One patient developed quadriparesis and impaired pain and temperature sensation, whose T2-weighted MRI revealed a high-intensity lesion from medulla to C5. Angiography showed severe stenosis of both vertebral arteries. Another patient developed paraplegia and loss of all sensory modalities after cardiac arrest, whose T2-weighted MRI revealed a high-intensity lesion in the cord at T11-L1. We conclude that each cause of the infarctions was stenosis of the vertebral arteries and systemic hypoperfusion.
In Sasang constitutional medicine, both disease susceptibility and drug response are considered to be related to the characteristics of an individual's physiology and psychology: a theory which is central to traditional Korean medicine.Based on such observable characteristics, Sasang constitutional medicine classifies people into four constitutional types.Genetic studies of Sasang constitution would help reveal the inheritance patterns and models of the typological traits and, moreover, help with traditional medical diagnosis and treatment.To investigate the heritable aspect of Sasang constitution, we collected various pedigrees from South Korea.The study population has 101 pedigrees composed of 593 individuals.The determination of the Sasang constitution type of each individual was performed by doctors who diagnose the Sasang constitutional type of individuals as part of their professional practice.We calculated estimates of familial correlation and heritability.Parent-Offspring pairs showed the strongest familial correlation of Sasang constitutional type, with the correlation values of 0.21 and 0.28, followed by sibling pairs with the value ranging between 0.14 and 0.25.From the heritability analysis conducted with the Variance-Component method, the heritability of TE (Tae-Eum) type, SY (So-Yang) type, and SE (So-Eum) type were 55%, 41%, and 47%, respectively.This pattern of heritability was consistent with different set of analyses, which suggest the robustness of our result.Our result clearly shows that the Sasang constitution type is heritable, and further genetic analysis based on our result will shed light on the biological mechanism of Sasang constitution.
Objection : A medicine which is patient-initiative and preventive is required in Korea, which is going to an aging society. On this, we started this study to make a new rule to diagnose and treat more definitely by linking traditional Oriental medicine to Sasang Constitional medicine, which thought to be suitable because of Sasang Constitional medicine has been valued on staying, diet and human's nature which means preventive medical propensity. Methods : On this study, we discriminated Sasang Constition of 161 students, who is in college of oriental medicine, Wonkwang university, by using QSCCII program; and in those students, we checked 30 volunteers's five vicera's Back-su point on riging and depression, tenderness reaction, and color reaction after cupping treatment. Results : As a result of study of riging and depression of five vicera's Back-su point, we could confirm that defecient organ's Back-su point were more depressed than excess organ in Seum-in, Taeeum-in, Soyang-in. As a result of study of tenderness reaction of five vicera's Back-su point, we could confirm that excess organ's Back-su point showed stronger tenderness reaction than defecient organ in Seum-in, Taeeum-in; and excess organ's Back-su point showed weaker tenderness reaction than defecient organ in Soyang-in. As a result of study of color reaction after cupping treatment of five vicera's Back-su point, we could confirm that excess organ's Back-su point showed stronger color reaction than defecient organ in Seum-in, Taeeum-in; and excess organ's Back-su point showed weaker color reaction than defecient organ in Soyang-in. Those data suggest that there are close correlation between Sasang Constition and on riging and depression, tenderness reaction, and color reaction after cupping treatment of five vicera's Back-su point in treditional Oriental medicine. Conclusions : From this study, we can make a new rule to differentiate Sasang Constition by clearfy a relation between Sasang Constition and five vicera's Back-su point; and with this rule, we could contribute to popularization and objectification of Sasang Constition medicine and further more, Oriental medicine by making a Sasang Constition diagnosis instrument. With this, a trait of Sasang Constition medicine that is preventive and valued on character of individuals will contribute to building a patient-initiative and preventive medical system and will expend the domain of Oriental medicine.
