Core and Spectrum Allocation Based on Association Rules Mining in Spectrally and Spatially Elastic Optical Networks

The combination of space division multiplexing technology with elastic optical networks allows to overcome the possible capacity crunch in backbone networks and also improves network flexibility by jointly managing spectral and spatial resources. However, against this background implemented by multi-core fibers, the interaction between spatial modes will appear as signal crosstalk, thereby affecting the service's transmission quality. Spectrum resources without crosstalk are always preferred for the services to guarantee quality of service, possibly resulting in the spectrum fragmentation. Conversely, if resources with crosstalk are selected for services to reduce fragments, it may lead to serious crosstalk on the services already carried in the adjacent cores. To achieve a tradeoff between these two factors, this paper firstly exploits the association rule mining method to quantitatively analyze the potential correlation between them. By executing FP-growth mining algorithm, rules not beneficial to service provisioning will be filtered out. Then, an association rules-based core and spectrum assignment algorithm is presented, considering transmission requirements for different levels of services. Simulation results indicate the presented strategy can decrease the proportion of services affected by crosstalk and also reduce the possibility of fragments generation. Additionally, it can effectively make improvement on the blocking and resource utilization.

Optical interconnection has become one of the key technologies to adapt the needs of large-scale data center networking with the advantages of large capacity, high bandwidth, and high efficiency. Data center optical interconnection has the characteristics of resource and technology heterogeneity. Its networking and control face enormous challenges for the increasing number of users with a high level quality of service requirements. Around different scenarios, there are a series of key networking and control problems in data center optical interconnection, such as multiple layers and stratums resources optimization in inter-data center, and time-aware resource scheduling in intra-data center. To solve these problems and challenges, this chapter mainly researches on content defined optical networking and integrated control for data center. For networking of vertical "multi-layer-carried" and horizontal "heterogeneous-cross-stratum", the chapter launches research work around application scenarios about inter-data center optical interconnection with optical network, and intra-data center. The model architecture, implementation mechanism and control strategy are analyzed and demonstrated on the experiment and simulation platform of data center optical interconnection. This chapter will provide important references for future diverse applications of data center optical interconnection and software defined networking and control in practice.

Research and simulation for an ultra-high-speed mobile broadband multimedia transmission system

This paper presents a broadband multimedia transmission system for the ultra-high-speed mobile application. Based on the time-domain synchronous orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (TDS-OFDM) system, training sequences in frame headers are regarded as samples of time-varying channel parameters under the fast-varying channel, instead of assuming that the channel impulse response remains constant during several frames, and an advanced method of channel estimation and equalization is proposed. The mobile TDS-OFDM system model which is able to estimate the channel parameters quickly is designed for the fast-varying channel with Doppler, by using the dual PN frame structure, LDPC code and method of information aid anti Doppler offset (IAADO). In the simulation, the proposed system offers a performance gain under fast-varying channel, compared with the traditional TDS-OFDM system. The transmission rate can reach 2.1Mbps by using 7.56MHz bandwidth under the six-path channel with 1kHz Doppler at lower than -1dB SNR, which is able to accommodate a multimedia transmission.

Multiple Layer Resource Optimization for Optical as a Service

We have established a neural network model optimized by adaptive artificial fish swarm algorithm. Then we propose a novel multi-path pre-reserved resource allocation strategy to increase resource utilization. The results prove the effectiveness of our method.

Multi Hierarchy Mapping Based Computing Power Scheduling for Data Center Optical Network

This paper introduces a scheduling method of computing power in data center optical network based on multi-hierarchy mapping, which aims to solve the challenge of heterogenous computing power devices that may not be measured uniformly and realize the balanced allocation of residual computing power resources between different hardware devices. Experimental results show that this method can significantly reduce the total delay of data center optical network, and improve the service processing efficiency by about 50%.

Field Trials of UHDTV Broadcasting over DTMB-A System

Digital terrestrial television broadcasting (DTTB), the most fundamental infrastructure for audio/video transmission networks, can support multimedia information services, targeting lots of audiences within a wide area in an efficient way. The advanced version of digital television/terrestrial multimedia broadcasting (DTMB-A), one of the second-generation DTTB standards of the International Telecommunication Union, provides higher spectrum efficiency and better transmission reliability compared with DTMB. By adopting a more flexible frame structure, advanced forward error correction coding, and improved constellation mapping, it is confirmed that the transmission capacity of DTMB-A is around 30% higher than that of DTMB under the same conditions carried out in laboratory tests and field trials on DTMB-A. In this paper, the trial network and the measurement results focusing on ultrahigh-definition television (UHDTV, both UHD-1/4K and UHD-2/8K) and the single-frequency network (SFN) are presented in detail. The preliminary work on the Integrated Communications and Broadcasting Network (ICBN) concept using both DTMB-A and fifth-generation (5G) networks for UHDTV delivery is also highlighted .
