Recently, an important topic of liver tumorigenesis had been published in 2013. In this report, Ras and Rho had defined the relation of liver tumorigenesis. The traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) database has been screened for molecular compounds by simulating molecular docking and molecular dynamics to regulate Ras and liver tumorigenesis. Saussureamine C, S-allylmercaptocysteine, and Tryptophan are selected based on the highest docking score than other TCM compounds. The molecular dynamics are helpful in the analysis and detection of protein-ligand interactions. Based on the docking poses, hydrophobic interactions, and hydrogen bond variations, this research surmises are the main regions of important amino acids in Ras. In addition to the detection of TCM compound efficacy, we suggest Saussureamine C is better than the others for protein-ligand interaction.
Abstract Background: Little is known about how early awareness is enhanced via a community-based active detection of dementia in comparison with the passive detected dementia through routine clinical practice. Methods: To assess the extent of the awareness, the adjusted detection ratio, the ratio of prevalence to incidence was developed by a Bayesian regression model based on a sample of 183 participants from community-based active survey and 1,921,308 subjects from clinical practice. Results: Given 2.91% prevalence estimated from passive detection and 6.59% prevalence on active survey, and 1.83 % incidence for those aged 65 years or older, the detection ratios were higher in active survey than passive detection for those aged 65-79 years (4.23, 95% CI: 2.68-6.69) versus (1.45, 95% CI: 1.43-1.47). Similar findings were also observed for those aged 80 years Conclusions: Active community-based detection was approximately three times that of passive detection due to the enhanced awareness of early detection of dementia. ABSTRACT: It is commonly believed that coarser suture materials should be used to provide sufficient tenacity in surgery for penile curvature correction. We report our 15‐year experience of fine sutures in a second operation in 31 patients who underwent prior curvature correction elsewhere with coarser sutures, resulting in recurrent penile curvature. Suture materials used in prior surgeries in these patients were either 2‐0 or 3‐0 nylon sutures. In this series, all 31 patients underwent a modified Nesbit procedure at the level of the collagen bundles using finer sutures. Prior to July 1998, 10 men underwent salvage surgery using 4‐0 polyglactin sutures. Thereafter, we adapted 6‐0 nylon sutures for another 21 patients. We categorized the patients into the polyglactin (n = 10) and nylon (n = 21) groups respectively. Overall, 29 patients were available for follow‐up while using the abridged 5‐item version of the International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF‐5) scoring system, with 21 patients in the nylon group. We have found cavernosography a practical and reliable method to objectively assess penile morphology in these patients. The penile morphology both subjectively and objectively was excellent in all patients, except for 1 in each group. Erectile function restoration showed a trend of satisfaction in the polyglactin group and based on IIEF‐5 was significantly improved in the nylon group (14.2 ± 3.6 vs 21.9 ± 2.1, n = 20, P < .001). These results suggest that in penile tunical surgery, fine sutures such as 6‐0 nylon may result in better penile morphology and functional outcomes.
Background. Post-concussion syndrome (PCS) has been defined as a clinical state where 3 or more symptoms (such as headache, poor memory, insomnia, anxiety or dizziness, etc.) persist for more than 3 months after mild closed head trauma. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the potential usefulness of 99mTc-ECD brain single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) scan in patients with PCS for more than 3 months and absence of morphological abnormalities on computed tomography (CT) scan after mild closed head injury. Methods. Our study included 48 patients (20 men and 28 women ranging in age from 21 to 75years) who suffered from persistent clinical complaints for more than 3 months after mild closed head trauma. The most common complaints were headache, poor memory, insomnia, anxiety and dizziness. However, brain CT scan was normal in all patients. All patients received 99mTc-ECD brain SPECT imaging. None of these patients had previous traumatic brain injury, CVA, psychiatric disorders or history of drug or alcohol abuse. Results. Sixteen patients had normal and 32 patients had abnormal 99mTc-ECD brain SPECT scans. Conclusions99m. Tc-ECD brain SPECT scanning is a useful imaging modality, as a complement to CT, for evaluating cerebral perfusion changes in morphologically intact brain regions in patients with persistent PCS following mild traumatic brain injury. Abstract Both studies on colour emotion and colour harmony have been developed for many years. For designers, creating harmonious colour combinations that satisfy specific colour emotions has always been designers' pursuit. However, most of the studies used flat colour combinations and lacked the discussion of the influence of three‐dimensional (3D) colour configuration on colour emotions and harmony. This study used the two‐colour combinations applied to the 3D colour configuration to explore the relationship between colour emotions and colour harmony, intending to enhance designers' insights on the colour schemes. The multi‐dimensional scaling was used to obtain the perceptual map, giving an overview of the relationships among colour emotions, colour harmony, and colour scheme techniques. The results showed that the emotion scales of “warm–cool”, “soft–hard” and “heavy–light” are similar. The scales of “complex–simple”, “active–passive” and “warm–cool” can be used to predict colour harmony. The harmonious colour combinations come along with “simple”, “passive” and “warm” emotions.
Methods: Bone mineral density(BMD)of right femoral necks(RFN)in 50 young male spinal cord injury(SCI)patients(ages:≤40 years)was measured by a dual photon absorptiometry(DPA)and the fracture risk was determined. The patients were separated into two groups according to the following two criteria, respectively:(A)the types of SCI was separated as quadriplegics and paraplegics, and(B)the periods after SCI attack was recorded as short(SCI≤1 year)or long(SCI>1 years). Results: The results showed 39 cases(78%)had fracture risks in RFN. We compared the incidences of fracture risks between quadriplegics and paraplegics SCI and between short and long periods after SCI attack. The higher incidence of fracture risks in quadriplegia SCI patients was found(93%),but no significant differences for the incidence of fracture risks existed between the patients with shorter and longer periods after SCI. Conclusions: We conclude that femoral neck fractures should be a common complication of SCI. The incidence with fracture risks of femoral necks are influenced by types of SCI lesions, not by SCI periods.
Human immunodeficiency virus causes the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) and becomes a serious world-wide problem because of this disease's rapid propagation and incurability. Integrase strand transfer inhibitors (INSTIs) supports HIV have rapid drug resistance for antitreatment. Screening the traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) database by simulating molecular docking and molecular dynamics may select molecular compounds to inhibit INSTIs against HIV drug resistance. (S)-cathinone and (1S,2S)-norpseudoephedrine are selected based on structure and ligand-based drugs are designed and then get higher bioactivity predicted score from SVM than Raltegravir and other TCM compounds. The molecular dynamics are helpful in the analysis and detection of protein-ligand interactions. According to the docking poses, hydrophobic interactions and hydrogen bond variations define the main regions of important amino acids in integrase. In addition to the detection of TCM compound efficacy, we suggest (1S,2S)-norpseudoephedrine is better than the others based on the analysis of interaction and the effect on the structural variation.
A recent research of cancer has indicated that the mutant of isocitrate dehydrogenase 1 and 2 ( IDH1 and 2 ) genes will induce various cancers, including chondrosarcoma, cholangiocarcinomas, and acute myelogenous leukemia due to the effect of point mutations in the active-site arginine residues of isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH), such as IDH1/R132, IDH2/R140, and IDH2/R172. As the inhibition for those tumor-associated mutant IDH proteins may induce differentiation of those cancer cells, these tumor-associated mutant IDH proteins can be treated as a drug target proteins for a differentiation therapy against cancers. In this study, we aim to identify the potent TCM compounds from the TCM Database@Taiwan as lead compounds of IDH2 R140Q mutant inhibitor. Comparing to the IDH2 R140Q mutant protein inhibitor, AGI-6780, the top two TCM compounds, precatorine and abrine, have higher binding affinities with target protein in docking simulation. After MD simulation, the top two TCM compounds remain as the same docking poses under dynamic conditions. In addition, precatorine is extracted from Abrus precatorius L., which represents the cytotoxic and proapoptotic effects for breast cancer and several tumor lines. Hence, we propose the TCM compounds, precatorine and abrine, as potential candidates as lead compounds for further study in drug development process with the IDH2 R140Q mutant protein against cancer.
